LEWISBURG, Pa. // Led by
Chip Deegan's (Jr / Newport Beach, Calif.) 4-over par 214 (71-70-73), the Navy's men's golf team closed out the 2025 Patriot League Championship in sixth place with a 21-over par 861 (285-279-297). The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament was played amid wind gusts in upwards of 30 miles per hour, as the teams struggled to fight the elements at the Bucknell Golf Club.
Deegan garnered Second-Team All-Patriot League recognition with his 12th-place finish. He opened the tournament one-over, but came back to shoot par in Saturday's second round. Sunday saw him turn in a 3-over par, the team's second-lowest round of the day to finish atop the Navy leader board.
Team captain
Benjamin Valdez (Sr / Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) finished 3 strokes behind Deegan in 20th with a 7-over par 217. The 2024 All-Patriot League performer opened the tournament with a 2-over par 72, but bounced back to post Navy's low round of the tournament with a 2-under par 68 over the second 18 holes. He rounded out the tournament with a 7-over par 77 in Sunday's final round. Additionally, he was responsible for one of the two eagles made over the weekend.
Danny Auffant (So / Bellevue, Wash.) tied for 24th with a 9-over par 219 (72-72-75), while
Jack Tarzy (Jr / Medford, N.J.), who finished just a stroke out of first a year ago, produced a 10-over par 220 in this year's tournament. His best round came in the second where he turned in a 1-under par 69.
Rookies
Kaden Ausen (Puyallup, Wash.) and
Ed Scott (Lemont, Ill.) rounded out the squad with the pair tied for 34th with a 12-over par 222. Scott shot the Mids' low round on Sunday with a 2-over par 72.
