Tang Finishes Top-10, Women’s Golf Places Eighth at Terps Invitational

Emma Tang Leads Navy’s Lineup With 2-Over Par 218 to Tie for Seventh Place

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Holding its own in a stacked field that included five Power-4 programs, the Navy women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Terps Invitational Sunday and Monday at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park, Md.
 
Competing on the par-72, 6,244-yard course, Navy opened the 54-hole tournament by shooting a 295 in the first round Saturday morning and followed with a 303 second-round score later in the day. The Mids then closed out the event with a round of 301 on Monday to post a weekend score of 35-over par 899 and tie Penn State for eighth place on the team leaderboard.
 
Michigan claimed the team title with a 13-over par 877 weekend, finishing seven strokes ahead of runner-up High Point, while Alisa Khokhlova of Delaware earned the individual medal at 2-under par 214, edging out Harvard's Vanessa Zhang by one stroke.
 
Ending the tournament with a 2-over par 218 performance, sophomore Emma Tang began with a round of 70 to push herself up the player leaderboard before posting rounds of 75 and 73, tying for seventh place with No. 113-ranked Nicha Kanpai of host Maryland, Penn State's Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun and High Point's Anna Howerton.
 
Tying for 17th on the leaderboard, freshman Megan Kirkpatrick used a first-round score of 71 to start the weekend and followed with 76 and 74 rounds, wrapping up a 5-over par 221 total for the three rounds.
 
Fellow freshman Vivian Cressman finished tied for 51st with a 15-over par 231 outing, posting three-straight rounds of 77, while sophomore Keira Howard was part of a three-way tie for 56th at 16-over par 232 using rounds of 77, 75 and 80. Rounding off the lineup, junior Sue Lee shot an 18-over par 234 to place 61st, notching rounds of 78, 79 and 77.
 
Competing individually, senior Bridget Hoang finished in 67th with a 19-over par 235 score, tallying rounds of 75, 80 and 80.
 
Navy will close out its regular season on Saturday and Sunday when it hosts the Navy Spring Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
