Offshore Sailing Wraps Up Summer Slate

Navy Finished as Runner-Up at Ecole Navale International Sailing Week, Earned Line Honors in Around Long Island Race

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team wrapped up its summer racing schedule last month, highlighted by an international runner-up finish and taking line honors in the Midshipmen's final race of the summer.
 
Heading across the Atlantic for the second-straight summer, a contingent of Midshipmen raced at the Ecole Navale International Sailing Week in Brest, France, taking second place in the late June event.
 
Opening July, the Navy crew aboard WAHOO took third in class at the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race, before heading south to Newport, R.I., to place third in class at the New York Yacht Club Overnight Race and then earn sixth overall at the New York Yacht Club Queen's Cup.
 
Finishing the July block, Navy closed out the 207-mile Around Long Island Regatta by placing second in its class and third overall, claiming line honors and the Service Academy trophy for the crew's efforts.
 
Navy opens the fall season on Aug. 30 at the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta.
