GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – A strong performance in Monday's opening round helped the Navy women's golf team collect a 10th-place finish on Wednesday at the season-opening 2025 Folds of Honor Collegiate in Grand Haven, Mich.
Competing in the three-day, nationally-televised tournament at the par-72, 6,206-yard American Dunes Golf Club, the Midshipmen registered a three-round score of 61-over par 925 to earn 10th in the 12-team field that included seven teams that ended the 2024-25 season ranked in the Top-25.
Tallying an impressive 11-over par 299 to sit sixth in the field at the close of Monday, the Mids posted a 19-over par 307 in Tuesday's second round to stand in ninth place, while the 31-over par 319 score on Wednesday shifted Navy into 10th.
Texas A&M took the team title at 7-over par 871, edging runner-up Baylor by three strokes, while Kentucky's Anastasia Hekkonen won the individual medal with a tournament score of 7-under 209.
Pacing the Mids by tying for 16th on the player leaderboard at 8-over par 224, junior
Emma Tang kicked off the event with an even-par 72 on Monday before shooting a 74 in Tuesday's action, ending the stay with a round of 78 on Wednesday.
A consistent showing from sophomore
Vivian Cressman found her finishing tied for 35th at 13-over par 229, as a first-round score of 77 was followed by shooting a 75 on Tuesday and another 77 to wrap up Wednesday's final round.
A tough Wednesday did not outshine a strong first two rounds for junior
Keira Howard, who closed in a tie for 39th with a tournament score of 14-over par 230. Posting a 73 on Monday and 75 in Tuesday's round, Howard stumbled with an 82 on Wednesday to end just behind Cressman.
Competing in their first collegiate tournament, freshmen
Angelina Kim and
Elizabeth Hang both tallied their best rounds on Monday, as Kim finished the event in 53rd at 26-over par 242 (77-83-82) while Hang placed 56th with a 32-over par 248 (82-83-83) three-round score.
Navy will continue the fall slate next week, as Tang and senior
Hallie Brisco compete in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup on Sept. 15-16 in Lake Bluff, Ill.
