Navy Aims to Continue Rugby East Dominance
The Mids begin their quest for a fourth-consecutive Rugby East Conference title. Navy has posted a 22-1 record against Rugby East opponents since it joined the league ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Last Time Out: vs. Queens
Navy scored 38 second-half points to surge past visiting Queens last weekend and open the 2025 season with a 50-14 victory. The win marked the fourth-consecutive year the Mids have won their season opener.

The Midshipmen struck first in the 10th minute when Kade Williams scored the team's first try of the season on an offload from AJ Young. Roanin Krieger and Andrew Baublitz each added two tries in the second half.

Navy Notes
  • Krieger accounted for 23 of Navy's second-half points in the win over Queens as he totaled two tries, five conversion kicks and a penalty kick.  Krieger had scored only two tries all of last season.
  • Baublitz's two tries last weekend gave him 29 for his career to extend his program record.
  • Sean Donohue recorded his second career try as he came off the bench against the Royals.
  • Three Mids – Tanner Call, Eric Clark and Jack Skidmore – made their Navy rugby debuts last weekend.
  • Grant Goddard led the team with nine tackles.
  • Navy's defense allowed only five possessions inside its own 22-meter zone and forced turnovers on three of those trips.

Scouting Mary Washington
  • The Eagles finished last season with a 5-6 overall record, which included a 3-4 mark in Rugby East play to place them seventh in the conference.
  • Harvey Payne is Mary Washington's top returning scorer in Rugby East play. He tallied four tries for 20 points in conference action last year.
  • The Eagles lost their overall leading scorer from last season, Sebastian Schefermann, who finished fourth in Rugby East scoring with 64 points (17 conversions, five penalty kicks, three tries).
  • Mary Washington is led by first-year head coach Andrew Spencer, who previously spent one season as the head coach at Nazareth during the 2024-25 campaign.

Navy vs. Mary Washington
  • Saturday's matchup marks the fourth meeting between the programs. Navy has won all three previous contests by a combined score of 86-32.
  • The Mids defeated the Eagles, 27-22, in last season's regular-season finale in Fredericksburg, Va., thanks to a 22-point second-half Navy surge.
