Men’s Soccer Returns to League Play with Home Meeting Against Lehigh

Navy Looking to Earn First Patriot League Win of the Season, Gain Ground in League Standings

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Riding high after a midweek win over a service academy rival, the Navy men's soccer team (3-3-4, 0-1-1 PL) returns to Patriot League action early Saturday when it takes on Lehigh (3-2-3, 1-0-1 PL) in an 11 a.m. contest at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
 
With Matt Sabados calling the action on ESPN+, the Midshipmen will look to extend its unbeaten streak in the all-time series against the Mountain Hawks to five games while also seeking Navy's first win of the 2025 league slate.
 
No Place Like Home
The Mids have posted an impressive 21-10-15 mark at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility since the start of the 2021 season … Navy has outscored opponents, 65-40, in those 46 games … Head coach Tim O'Donohue is 40-25-20 in his career at Glenn Warner … Senior Andrew Schug has seven goals and two assists in 28 career home games, while fellow senior A.J. Schuetz has tallied five goals and one assist at home over 29 career games at the GWSF.
 
Last Time Out
A pair of set-piece goals helped Navy pick up its first victory over service academy rival Air Force since 2007, as the Mids posted a 2-1 win over the visiting Falcons Tuesday night in Annapolis … Restarting a rivalry that was last played in 2018, the Mids grabbed an early lead on sophomore Duncan Sullivan's 10th-minute penalty-kick tally and added to it with junior Nate Stewart heading home a 71' corner kick, while senior goalkeeper Robert Eaton and Navy held back a pressing Air Force attack after Marcos Goni cut into the deficit at 76' to seal the victory … Finishing with four saves in the winning effort, Eaton outdueled Brody Smith and his one save.
 
Navy Notes
The current Navy seniors have gone 20-24-22 in their time in Annapolis, going 9-9-11 in league play and making a pair of Patriot League Tournaments, including winning the 2022 league title as freshmen … The Mids are 6-1-3 all-time when A.J. Schuetz records a point, while Navy has tallied a 5-1-3 mark when Andrew Schug scores … Navy is also 2-1-1 when Wyatt Stevens nets a goal … With Will Cawlfield's tally against William & Mary, Navy needs one other rookie to register a goal to have multiple freshmen score in a season for the first time since the fall 2020/spring 2021 campaign, when both David Jackson and Baba Kallie scored as plebes … Only two non-senior goalkeepers have started a game in net for Navy since 2019: Pierce Holbrook (2022, 2023) and Dylan Carmody (2025).

Andrew Schug's and Duncan Sullivan's three goals apiece are tied for second in the Patriot League behind Bucknell's Jack Lucas (four goals) and sit 107th nationally … Sullivan's eight points rank second in the league … Robert Eaton's 0.872 save percentage ranks 15th in the nation and first in the Patriot League … Eaton's 0.643 goals against average is first in the league and 25th nationally … Navy is second in the league with 11.5 shots per game 113th nationally) … The Mids' 0.900 team goals against average ranks third in the league and 50th in the nation.
 
Scouting Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks arrive in Annapolis at 3-2-3 and 1-0-1 in league play, as a league-opening win over Loyola was followed by a midweek non-conference loss at now-ranked Marist and a 3-3 draw at Army on Saturday … Giacomo Zizza was named both the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Midfielder of the Week on Monday, as Zizza recorded his first career brace in Lehigh's tie against Army … Zizza, Yusef Gueye, Luciano Larrea and Bora Turker each have a team-leading two goals, while Zizza paces the team and the league with four assists … Zizza's four assists rank 24th nationally while his 0.50 assists per game sit 36th in the nation … Anton Kinnunen has started all eight games in net for Lehigh, making 30 saves for a .698 save percentage … Gueye and fellow 2024 All-Patriot League Third Team selections Noah Levy and Landon Bealer all return for the Mountain Hawks.

Navy is 35-23-9 in the all-time series with Lehigh, winning the last two matchups in the series and posting a four-game undefeated streak in the series dating back to the 2021 postseason … The Mids hold a 25-13-6 home record over the Mountain Hawks all-time … Lehigh's last trip to Annapolis on Sept. 30, 2023 featured a 2-0 Navy win on the backs of goals from Andrew Schug and David Jackson, backed up by Pierce Holbrook's one-save shutout that extended the Mids' winning streak to three games … The 2024 meeting on Oct. 26 between the teams in Bethlehem saw Holbrook notch a season-high nine saves following a highlight-reel goal from A.J. Schuetz in the opening minutes, as Navy secured a 1-0 victory.

All soccer contests at Glenn Warner will be free of charge, as Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at the Naval Clinic (695 Kinkaid Rd, Annapolis, MD 21402) and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting one hour before the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Pedestrians may also walk through the Naval Academy's Gate 1 or Gate 8. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Complex.
