ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The #9 Navy rifle team (2-1) began the 2025-26 season with a strong performance, tallying 4715 points in the season opener at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range in Annapolis. As a team, the Midshipmen tallied 2332 in smallbore, while tying a program record in air rifle with a collective performance of 2383. #3 TCU posted a team score of 4727 to finish just ahead of the Midshipmen, while the VMI men's squad tallied 4597 and the VMI women's team posted a score of 4493.
"We had a really good match today to start off our season," head coach
Mike Anti said. "This is the highest score we have ever shot for a season opener.
"We had a number of standout performances from a number of our athletes.
Parker Haydin led our team with tremendous scores in both smallbore and air rifle. He fired the highest score on our team in smallbore and then followed it up with a great score of 597 in the air rifle event.
Tyler Wee, one of our freshmen, also had an amazing day with a solid smallbore performance and matched Parker with another 597. Isabella struggled a bit in smallbore but fought hard to post a 581. She came back strong in air rifle shooting an impressive 598. Completing our air rifle team was
Catherine Dely, our team captain, with a strong 591.
"We fired a team air rifle score of 2383 which ties our team record. I am very pleased with everyone's performance today. We have some areas that need some work but overall, a very good day."
Parker Haydin led the way for the Midshipmen on the day. The senior finished second overall behind TCU's Marissa Fedora who led all scorers with 1187 total points. Haydin was one point back with an 1186, just four points shy of his career best. Haydin started the day with a 589 in smallbore to finish second in the discipline behind Fedora. The Joshua, Texas native tied for third in air rifle with a 597.
Freshman
Tyler Wee was second on the Navy squad, posting a consistent day in his Midshipmen debut. T. Wee tied for third in both smallbore and air rifle. The rookie posted a score of 585 in smallbore to go along with a 597 in air rifle for an aggregate tally of 1182 to finish fourth overall.
Isabella Baldwin was third on the team with an aggregate score of 1179. The junior opened the day with a 581 in smallbore before rallying to tie her career-high with 598 in air rifle.
Seniors
Grace Shepard and
Catherine Dely posted scores of 1164 and 1162, respectively. Shepard carded scores of 577 in smallbore and 587 in air rifle for her 1164, while Dely notched a 571 in smallbore before tying a career-high with a 591 in air rifle.
Chelsie Glover,
Ryan Wee, and
Devin Uhrich followed with scores in the 1150s. Glover registered career highs in both smallbore (571) and air rifle (587) to notch a new career high in aggregate of 1158. R. Wee was consistent on the day posting a 577 in smallbore and a 579 in air rifle for an aggregate total of 1156. Uhrich carded scores of 568 (smallbore) and 586 (air rifle) for a combined performance of 1154.
Freshmen
Preston Everette (571-576=1147),
Audrey Hart (513-574=1087), and
Bennett Hilgenberg (519-539=1058) all competed in their first collegiate match.
Up next, Navy will return to action Saturday, October 18 as it hosts 2025 NCAA-runner-up and fellow GARC member Kentucky. The match is set to get underway at 9:00 a.m.
