BLAKE HORVATH NAMED THE WINNER OF THE MILITARY SERVICE ACADEMY LEADERSHIP AWARD BY THE MAXWELL FOOTBALL CLUB

Maxwell Football Club Executive Director Mark Wolpert announced that Navy Quarterback Blake Horvath has been named the winner of the club's inaugural Military Service Academy Leadership Award, established to honor a player from one of the United States Military Service Academies who exemplifies exceptional leadership both on the football field and within their academy community.

One of the most accomplished quarterbacks in program history, Horvath led the Midshipmen to a school-record 21 wins over two years, highlighted by back-to-back Commander-in-Chief's Trophy titles — the program's first repeat since 2012–13, including a dramatic 17–16 victory over Army in 2025. Under his leadership, Navy produced back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in school history, went 11–2 in 2025 to tie the program record for wins in a season, and posted a 21–5 mark over the last two years, the ninth-best winning percentage in the FBS and the best among non–Autonomy 4 programs.

A proven dual-threat, he became the first Navy quarterback ever to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons and just the third in school history to surpass 1,200 yards passing and rushing in a single year. He finished 2024 with the second-most total offense in a season in school history (2,599 yards) and tied the school record with 13 touchdown passes, then followed in 2025 with 2,780 yards of total offense, 1,580 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, and over 1,200 rushing yards with 16 scores, earning Third Team All-Conference honors. He set the school record with 469 yards of total offense against Air Force and owns the longest run in program history with a 95-yard touchdown.

Over his career, Horvath ranked among the most efficient quarterbacks in service-academy history, posting the highest career passing efficiency of any service-academy quarterback with 150+ attempts, the second-best completion percentage in school history behind Roger Staubach, and top-five marks at Navy in passing touchdowns, total offense, and points responsible for, consistently changing games with both his arm and his legs during one of the most successful eras in Navy football.

Off the field, the Hilliard, Ohio native has matched his football success with elite performance in the classroom and in leadership. He carries a 3.69 GPA in the demanding operations research major, ranks highly in overall order of merit among his classmates, earned CSC Academic All-District honors, and became just the 11th NFF National Scholar-Athlete in Naval Academy history. Beyond academics and athletics, Horvath is active in service initiatives, faith-based groups, and campus leadership organizations, embodying the values of discipline, service, and integrity while preparing for a future of leadership in both football and military service.

The formal presentation of the Military Service Academy Leadership Award will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. The Maxwell Football Club will also present its other national awards, ranging from high school to the professional ranks, at the event.
