ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Volleyball setter
Isa Boyd, men's soccer midfielder
Duncan Sullivan and
Martin Perecinsky from the men's swimming and diving team were named this week's Naval Academy Athletic Association Athletes of the Week, presented by USAA.
Boyd dished out 26 assists and fell one dig shy of a double-double to help the volleyball team to a four-set victory (13-25, 26-24, 25-18, 26-24) over Army Friday in West Point in the annual Star Match between the teams. It was Navy's first Star Match win since 2023 and the team's first Star Match victory at Army since 2003.
Army and Navy will meet again this Saturday in Annapolis (4 p.m.).
Sullivan was crucial in Navy's 4-3 Star Game win over rival Army as he recorded a goal and two assists while playing the full 90 minutes of Army-Navy Cup XV.
Assisting on
Keane Brown's Sportscenter-worthy goal to make it 2-1 at 54', Sullivan then gave the Mids another lead at 3-2 when he headed home
Nick Gallucci's cross at 70'. Sullivan then got the ball to
Wyatt Stevens at 85', who crossed it to
Gavin McBride for the game-winning fourth goal.
Perecinsky won a pair of races during Navy's victories over No. 14 LSU (167.5-132.5) and Loyola (236-64) Friday in Lejeune Hall. The win over the Tigers was Navy's first against an SEC school and also marked the highest-ranked team the Mids have defeated since the polls began two decades ago.
Perecinsky placed first by 2.32 seconds in the 200 free (1:35.78) and by nine-tenths of a second in the 200 back (1:46.29).
He then won the 100 back (48.95) and finished second to teammate
Preston Kessler by four-hundredths of a second the following day during Navy's wins over UMBC (196-96) and William & Mary (181-105).
Navy will travel to West Point to face Army for the Star on October 23.
