ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Three Mids won both of their singles and doubles matches as the Navy men's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over Mount St. Mary's (0-3) Saturday evening at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  Navy (7-5) split its squad on the day and the other half fell to Monmouth (3-0) by the score of 7-0 at the Park Avenue Tennis Center in Oakhurst, N.J.

The Mids began the match by winning two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.

Aniketh Ayinala and Zach Quattro combined for a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 flight over Alessio Guarino and Ryan Wagner in what was the only match of the three to not reach a tiebreaker.

The Mount team of Nikolas Makris and Sefanos Pournaropoulous posted a 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 2 doubles against the Navy tandem of J.J. Etterbeek and Herrick Legaspi.  The remaining match at No. 1 doubles had the exact same final score as the No. 2 match, but a different result as Navy's team of Lachlan Buckingham and Jake Young won the match over Akarash Gaonkar and Alexi Roy.

Each of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets.  The score became 2-0 when Ayinala defeated Gaonkar at No. 1 singles, then Legaspi defeated Pournaropoulous 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.  

Mount St. Mary's scored its point when Luke Pournaropoulous beat Zach Giertz, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 flight.  Navy secured the victory when Guarino had to retire his No. 5 match to Buckingham while trailing 7-6, 3-0.

Young defeated Roy, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 and Etterbeek registered a 6-4, 6-4 win over Wagner at No. 4 in the remaining two matches.

Monmouth 7, Navy 0
The Mids had a great chance to earn the doubles point against the Hawks.  Monmouth won the first match to finish, a 6-1 win at the No. 3 flight, then Navy's No. 2 team of George Cutone and Tommy Kim defeated Jakob Bonnett and Louis Keller by the score of 6-2.

In the No. 1 match, Monmouth's Alex Martinez Sanz and Sasha Vysochenko held off the Navy team of Ethan Garcia and Jason Kim by the score of 7-5.

Monmouth won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Navy will play at home on Feb. 13 against Saint Joseph's and on the road on the same day at NJIT, then will be in the Tose Family Tennis Center for matches on Feb. 14 against Hampton and Villanova.
