BETHLEHEM, Pa. // For a second time this year and the fifth over his four-year career, Navy's
Chip Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week the conference office announced on Thursday.
Deegan helped lead Navy to a seventh-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday, as the Mids covered the 54-hole tournament with an 18-over par 858 (280-276-302). Deegan finished fourth out of 75 golfers by shooting a 4-under par 206 at the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. He opened the tournament with a 4-under par 66 in a first round that featured an eagle on the 14th before close out the day with a 2-under par in the second round. He closed out the tournament with a 2-over par 72 in the final round.
Deegan, who has competed in eight events, owns a 71.70 stroke average this year.
