ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After spending two weeks ranked fifth, the Navy women's lacrosse team moved up to #4 in all three national polls – the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Coaches Poll, the Inside Lacrosse KANE Women's Division I Media Poll, and the USA Lacrosse poll. It is the highest ranking ever for the Midshipmen.
Entering the 2026 season, the Midshipmen's highest IWLCA ranking – sixth – came in the final polls of the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Navy finished the 2017 season in fourth in the final ILWomen poll after the Midshipmen's Final Four run.
Prior to claiming the #4 spot in Week 6 of the 2026 season, fifth was the highest in-season ranking in any poll for Navy.
The Midshipmen have been ranked in the top 10 according to the IWLCA 13 times, including the first weekly poll of the season (Feb. 9, 2026), which was the first time in the top 10 since the final poll of the 2018 season (ranked 6th on May 29, 2018).
The Midshipmen began the season 16th in the preseason polls according to the IWLCA and the Inside Lacrosse, while opening the year at #14 in the USA Lacrosse preseason poll.
In its history, Navy has been ranked 114 total weeks, including a stretch of 46 weeks from the final poll of 2017 (May 30) to April 5, 2021. The Mids' first appearance in the national rankings came on March 11, 2013, coming in at #20.
Last season, the Midshipmen were in the top 25 poll for 14 weeks, rising as high as #16 and finishing the year 18th.
Up next, Navy hosts Arizona State at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, March 17 at 4:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
