CBS Sports Network to Broadcast Navy vs. Loyola Game Friday Night Under the Lights

Setting the Stage
• Opening Draw:
After spending the last two weekends on the road, Navy (7-6, 3-4 Patriot League) returns home to play host to Loyola (8-5, 5-2 Patriot League) on Friday evening in its regular-season finale. Faceoff is slated for 7:06 pm at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and the game is presented by First Command. Navy is led by Joe Amplo, who has put together a 50-39 record in his 7 seasons at the helm of the Mids' program, while Loyola's Charley Toomey has posted a 195-117 record in 21 seasons as the Greyhounds' head coach.  The contest marks the 22nd meeting in a series that dates back to 1939.
• Follow the Action: Friday's contest will be televised by CBS Sports Network with Chris Lewis and Evan Washburn calling the action. Additionally, the game will be carried live on 1430 WNAV with Joe Miller on the call. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 pm with the Navy Lacrosse Pregame Show. Live stats will also be available on NavySports.com(.)

What They're Talking About
• Navy would earn a spot in the 6-team Patriot League Tournament with a win over Loyola AND a win by either Lafayette (vs. Lehigh) or Colgate (vs. Army).
• Navy's 12.92 scoring average is its best since 1979 when the Mids averaged 13.62 (177 G, 13 gms).
Alec Gregorek (So / A) has scored multiple goals in 11 of the 13 contests this spring. He scored multiple goals in each of the first-11 games of the season which is a school record for most consecutive multiple-goal games in a single season. Joe Bossi previously held the record when he rattled off 10-straight games with multiple goals in 2004.
• Behind a career-high 8-point performance against Holy Cross, Mac Haley (Sr / A) became just the 3rd Navy player since 2000 to reach the 40-point mark in a season multiple times in a career (43 in 2025, 47 in 2026), joining Ian Dingman and Jon Birsner.
• Haley (47 pts) needs just 3 more points to become the Mids' 1st 50-point scorer since 2016 when Patrick Keena finished the year with 55 points (24-31).
• Haley (47 pts) and Gregorek (43) are Navy's 1st 40-point tandem since Ryan Wade (20-28=48) and Christian Daniel (31-12=43) did it in 2019.
• With 24-career points (12 G, 12A), AJ Marsh (Jr / D) is Navy's record holder for points scored by a long pole. He has scored 5 goals and dealt out 5 assists this spring. He had a remarkable 7-game point-scoring streak (Boston U. 2-28 thru Holy Cross 4-4).
Zach Hayashi (Jr / FO) took sole possession of 2nd on the Mids' all-time faceoff wins leader board with 367 following the Army game (4-11). Brady Dove set the record with 637 wins from 2014-17.
• Dating back to last spring, Navy has won 7-consecutive games when leading at the half, including 5 this season. Under Joe Amplo, the Mids are 37-4 when leading at the half.
• During the Joe Amplo era, Navy has lost just 2 games when holding its opponent to 9 or fewer goals. The Mids are 32-2 when achieving that feat since 2020 and 3-0 this season.

Scouting Loyola
• Veteran Loyola head coach Charley Toomey has guided the Greyhounds to an 8-5 record this spring, including a 5-2 mark in the Patriot League.
• Loyola dropped games to nationally-ranked Maryland (19-10) and Johns Hopkins (13-7) before rattling off 4-consecutive wins over UMBC (12-8), Colgate (13-11), Towson (17-13) and Providence (15-9). It lost back-to-back games to Lehigh (15-10) and Georgetown (14-7) before winning 4 in a row against Bucknell (13-12), Holy Cross (10-8), Boston U. (19-11) and Lafayette (16-7). The Greyhounds are coming off a 15-9 loss at home to Army last weekend.
• Three players have scored 40 or more points for a Loyola offensive unit that is averaging 12.15 goals per game. Mason Cook (So / A) has been sensational for the Greyhounds this season, turning in a team-best 57 points on a team-high 47 goals and 10 assists. Matthew Minicus (Sr / A) has recorded 48 points on 29 goals and 19 assists, while Kenan Everhart (Jr / A) owns 45 points on 25 goals and 20 assists.
• The defense, meanwhile, is allowing 11.92 goals per game, as the opponent has scored just 3 fewer goals than the Greyhounds this spring. Joe Houlihan (Gr / D) has been a menace for the opposing offensive units, posting a team-high 16 caused turnovers.
• Max Watkinson (Sr / GK) is in his 2nd season as the full-time starter between the pipes where he owns an 11.87 goals-against average and a 52.4 save percentage. He is averaging 12.62 saves per game.
• Carson Hall (Jr) has taken the bulk of the faceoffs for the Greyhounds, winning 124 of 227 draws (54.6), while Mason Graves (So) has won 57 of 112 (50.9).

Program Ties
• Long-time friends Joe Amplo and Charley Toomey shared the same sideline as assistant coaches for the US National Team for several years, leading USA to gold medals at the 2018 and '23 World Championships. However, Friday evening the two will coach from opposite sidelines. Amplo and Toomey first met as opposing head coaches on April 3, 2021, when Loyola traveled to Annapolis to play the Mids. This will be the 10th time the two have faced one another as opposing head coaches.
• Toomey served as the Naval Academy Prep School head coach during the 1993 season before joining the Navy coaching staff as an assistant for two years. He served under Bryan Matthews (1994) and Richie Meade (1995).

Navy-Loyola Series
• Loyola and Navy are meeting for the 22nd time overall and the 16th since Loyola joined the Patriot League in 2014.
• Loyola owns a 14-7 series advantage, winning 14 of the last 18 meetings.
• Friday's contest marks the 14th game between the two programs played in Annapolis. The Greyhounds have won 8 of the 13 games played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, including 5 of the last 6. Navy won the last game in the series played in Annapolis, posting a 12-10 victory over Loyola in the 2024 Patriot League Quarterfinals.
• The two programs first met on May 6, 1939, with Navy posting a 14-4 victory. The Mids also took wins over Loyola in 1942 (12-8) and 1943 (8-1). However, the two teams would not meet again until the NCAA Tournament in 1993. The Greyhounds dealt the Mids a 19-8 to end their season.
• The series was rekindled in 2010 with Loyola scoring an 8-7 decision in overtime and a year later the Greyhounds earned a 9-8 come-from-behind win over the Mids in Baltimore. Loyola joined the Patriot League in 2014 and the two have met every year since, except for 2020 due to the pandemic.

Senior Salute
• Navy's 15 senior lacrosse players and senior support member will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to Friday night's contest.
• Navy's Class of 2025 has put together a 32-26 (55.2) record, including a 17-14 (54.8) mark in Patriot League action.
• Navy's seniors will graduate on May 22 and be commissioned Ensigns in the Navy or 2nd Lieutenants in the Marine Corps.
