ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy and Colgate will face each other Friday in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Men's Tennis Tournament being contested this weekend at Lehigh. The second-seeded Mids (13-8, 6-1) and seventh-seeded Raiders (7-12, 2-5) will play at 3 p.m. at the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts in Bethlehem, Pa.  The school's four-court Lewis Indoor Tennis Center will be the site should poor weather force play indoors.

Navy defeated Colgate by the score of 7-0 when the teams met April 12 in Annapolis. The Mids posted 6-2 wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles and held a 5-2 advantage at No. 2 doubles when it was halted.  Navy went on to post straight-set victories at each of the six singles flights to secure the win.

The teams are meeting in the tournament for the first time since Navy won a 4-0 decision in the semifinal round of the 2022 event and are playing in the quarterfinal round for the first time since 2013.  The Mids hold a 7-2 advantage in postseason matches played between the teams.

Navy has been seeded either first (7) or second (4) in every league tournament played since 2015 and has advanced to the championship match in each of the last 14 times the event has been held.  The Mids are vying for their first championship since 2023, 12th in the last 19 tournaments and 16th overall.

The winner of Friday's quarterfinal match will advance to Saturday's semifinal round where it will play the winner of No. 3 Army vs. No. 6 Loyola.
