Jack Tarzy's (Medford, N.J.) tournament-tying low 71 (+1), the Navy men's golf team closed out the opening day of the 2026 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship tied for first place on the leader board alongside Army with a 13-over par 293. Just one stroke separates the top-four teams, as defending champion Loyola and Holy Cross are tied for third in the standings with a 14-over par 294.
Three Mids finished the opening round among the top-11 players, including Tarzy who shares the lead with three other players - Ryan Cronin from Lehigh and Alex Elia and Leo Chu from Holy Cross.
Navy's
Chip Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) sits two strokes back from the leaders in eighth with a 3-over par 73, while
Hudson Mitchell (Fr / Pensacola, Fla.) , who is making his Patriot League Championship debut, is tied for 11th with a 4-over par 74.
Ed Scott (So / Lemont, Ill.) stands 20th with a 5-over par 75, while
Sebastian Alonzo (Fr / Azusa, Calif.) is 46th (+12, 82) and
Danny Auffant (Jr / Bellevue, Wash.) is 48th (+13, 83).
Play will resume Saturday at the West Point Golf Course with Navy playing alongside Army and Loyola beginning at 10:00 am.
