ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face top-seeded Wake Forest in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match between the Mids (27-17) and the Demon Deacons (30-3), winners of last year's NCAA title, will be played Friday at 5 p.m.
The other half of the four-team bracket features Old Dominion playing Gardner-Webb Friday at 2 p.m. The winners of Friday's matches will advance to a Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) second round match.

* Navy won the program's 16th Patriot League Tournament title over the weekend. The second-seeded Mids defeated seventh-seeded Colgate 4-0 in the quarterfinals, third-seeded Army 4-0 in the semifinals and top-seeded and tournament-host Lehigh 4-2 in the final.

Herrick Legaspi and
Charlie Spencer both posted 5-1 records during the Patriot League Tournament. Each player compiled a 3-0 record in singles and the two combined for a 2-1 record as Navy's No. 1 doubles team. Spencer was named the MVP of the tournament as he clinched the match in both the semifinals against Army and finals against Lehigh.
* Legaspi has tallied a 16-6 record in singles this spring (14-4 at No. 1) and Spencer has produced an 11-5 mark (6-1 at No. 3). The pair has tallied a 7-3 mark as a doubles team, which includes a 6-3 record at the No. 1 flight.

Aniketh Ayinala has put together a 9-4 mark at No. 2 singles as part of his 14-6 overall record.

Tommy Kim also had a solid spring with a 5-0 record at the No. 4 flight and a 13-5 record in all.

J.J. Etterbeek is tied with Legaspi for the most singles wins this spring with his 16-7 record. This includes a 4-0 mark at No. 5 singles.

Steve Nguyen has totaled a 10-2 record in spring singles matches and has won all four of his completed matches at No. 6 singles.
* Navy's anticipated No. 3 doubles team of
Lachlan Buckingham and
Jake Young enters the match with an 8-1 record this spring. The duo won all four of its matches that were played at No. 3.
Navy's NCAA Tournament History
* Navy has been the Patriot League's representative to the NCAA Tournament 13 times since the field was expanded to 64 teams starting with the 1999 event. This includes six times in the last eight tournaments that have been contested.
* Every graduating class from Navy since 2007 has played in the NCAA Tournament at least once over the course of their careers.

Herrick Legaspi,
J.J. Etterbeek and
Aniketh Ayinala all played singles for Navy in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Legaspi played No. 4, Etterbeek No. 5 and Ayinala No. 6.
* Including this year's match, Navy will have played a top-16 seeded team in 12 of its 13 NCAA Tournaments, with all 12 of those matches being played at the home of the seeded team.
