ANNAPOLIS, Md. // Following his runner-up finish at the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday, Navy's
Chip Deegan (Sr / Newport Beach, Calif.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. This is the third time this season and sixth time during his career that Deegan has received the weekly conference honor.
Deegan opened the tournament on Monday with a 1-over par 72 before closing out the day with a 4-over par 75 in the second round to put himself well within reach of the leader heading into the final round. One of only seven players to play a round under par during the two-day, 54-hole tournament, Deegan shot a 1-under par 70 in the final round to finish tied for second alongside Villanova's Ryan Pamer. Deegan tallied the second-most birdies in the tournament with 11 and made eagle in the opening round en route to with a 4-over par 217 (72-75-70).
Deegan, who owns the team's low stroke average this season (71.54), now has four top-five finishes this year, including a pair of runner-up finishes.
