WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this month, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced the finalists for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award and sophomore attacker
Alyssa Chung was among the five named to the list, becoming the first Navy women's lacrosse player in program history to be named a finalist for the Tewaaraton.
On Thursday, Chung and her fellow finalists – Brigid Duffy (Army), Chloe Humphrey (North Carolina), Reagan O'Brien (Johns Hopkins), and Madison Taylor (Northwestern) – will be honored at the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium, in Washington D.C. with the Tewaaraton Foundation announcing the award recipient at the ceremony.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are composed of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.

The initial 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List was announced Feb. 10, with the first round of additions being announced March 5 and a second round of additions March 26. The watch list was narrowed down to the top 25 nominees on April 16 with the five women's finalists were selected from this group and announced Tuesday, May 5.
Chung is one of 10 Midshipmen to be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, joining Erin Rawlick (2010), Jasmine DePompeo (2012, '13), Jenna Collins (2018), Kelly Larkin (2018, '19, '20), Nicole Victory (2021),
Alyssa Daley (2025),
Emily Messinese (2025),
Mikayla Williams (2026), and
Ava Yovino (2023, '24, '26).
In April, Chung and Yovino became the third and fourth Midshipmen to advance to the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 Nominees, joining Jenna Collins in 2018 and Kelly Larkin in 2019. With her selection to the top five, Chung became the first Midshipmen in program history to be named a finalist for the Tewaaraton.
In 2026, Chung led Navy with 118 points on a team-high 84 goals and team-best 34 assists. With her 118 points, the sophomore became the sixth player in program history to record 100 or more points in a season, joining Jenna Collins (2017, '18), Julia Collins (2018), Jasmine DePompeo (2013), Kelly Larkin (2017, '18, '19), and Erin Rawlick (2010).
She scored at least one goal in all 22 games this season with 20 multi-goal performances, including 15 hat tricks. Additionally, the Severna Park native added 28 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers, and 20 draw controls.
For her career, Chung has amassed 199 points on 150 goals and 49 assists in 43 games over two seasons with 45 ground balls, 34 caused turnovers and 21 draw controls. She has scored at least one goal in 40 games with 36 multi-goal performances, including 29 total hat tricks.
