ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Austin "Bo" Waggoner has been named an assistant coach for the Navy men's basketball team, head coach Jon Perry announced today.  Waggoner arrives in Annapolis after he served as the director of operations at Notre Dame this past season.

"We are thrilled to add Bo to our coaching staff," said Navy head coach Jon Perry.  "His experiences at Notre Dame, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and in the Big Ten at Penn State have given him a unique perspective on what it takes to build and sustain winning programs.  He has a genuine gift for connecting with people and building strong relationships with players.  His character, professionalism, and commitment to player development make him a perfect fit for our program and aligns perfectly with mission at the Naval Academy.  We welcome Bo, Jen and Vienna to the Yard."

"I am extremely grateful to be joining Coach Perry's staff at the Naval Academy," said Waggoner.  "It is an honor to be part of a program with a winning tradition while also serving a purpose greater than any individual.  My family and I are excited to help the Midshipmen anyway we can, on and off the court!"

A native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., who attended Cumberland Valley High School, Waggoner was first a four-year team manager and then a two-year graduate assistant at Penn State.  He earned both a Bachelor of Science in finance with a minor in economics (2020) and attained a Master of Education (2022) during his time at the school.

Waggoner served as an assistant coach at Wilkes during the 2022-23 season.  The NCAA Division III school posted an overall record of 13-12 and a Landmark Conference record of 8-8 during his lone season in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

He then joined the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns as a video associate before joining the Notre Dame staff last season.
