ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy has been picked to win the American Conference by The Sporting News College Football Preview magazine. The Sporting News joins Athlon and Lindy's in selecting the Midshipmen to capture the conference title.
The Sporting News picked Boise State, of the Pac-12 Conference, to represent the Group of 6 in the College Football Playoff.
Navy opponents Memphis and UTSA were picked to finish second and third, respectively.
Navy opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 at home against Towson before traveling to Florida Atlantic on Sept. 12 for its American Conference opener.
