7/17/2026 11:55:00 AM

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy men's basketball head coach Jon Perry announced today that Scott Wagers has been promoted to the position of associate head coach for the program.

"Having worked with Scott for many years," said Perry, "I have always admired his character, work ethic and commitment to excellence. Since arriving at Navy, he has fully embraced the standards, values and mission of the Naval Academy while making an immediate impact on our program. This promotion to associate head coach reflects the respect he has earned and the tremendous value he brings to our student-athletes, staff and the Academy."

Wagers serves as the team's defensive coordinator.  The Mids led the Patriot League and ranked sixth nationally in scoring defense (64.3 ppg), stood first among league teams and seventh in the NCAA in defensive three-point percentage (29.7%) and placed first in the league and 27th in the country in defensive field goal percentage (40.7%) during the 2025-26 season.

The staff for the 2026-27 season was recently completed with the hirings of assistant coaches Quentin Acree and Bo Waggoner.  They join Wagers and returning assistants Brett Barron and Zack Curran in comprising Perry's staff.

"I couldn't be more excited about the direction of our staff and what this group will bring to Navy basketball," said Perry.  "Every role has been intentionally designed to better support our physical mission, accelerate player development and strengthen the championship culture we are building every day.  Together, this is an exceptional staff of teachers, mentors and leaders who embody the standards, values and mission of the Naval Academy.  I can't wait to get to work alongside this group as we develop leaders of character, pursue excellence in every aspect of our program and build a team capable of competing for championships.

"Brett Barron has made a tremendous impact on our program with his investment in developing our student-athletes and the relationships he has built across our team and The Yard.  He embodies the standards and values of our program every day and his promotion to special teams coordinator recognizes the leadership, professionalism and positive influence he has had on our players and staff.  He will continue to direct our opponent scouting efforts for the program.  Zack Curran made an immediate impact during his first year with our program through his work ethic, outstanding relationships and leadership throughout the recruiting process.  He will continue leading our recruiting efforts while taking on an expanded role with our offense.  We are also excited to welcome Quentin Acree as our director of player development and video analytics and Bo Waggoner as our director of player personnel."
