ANNAPOLIS, Md.— 2nd Lt. Alex Tecza, USMC, will suit up for his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers tonight when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills at 7 p.m. in their final preseason game.
 
Tecza, a 2026 Naval Academy graduate, was invited to rookie minicamp with teammate 2nd Lt. Eli Heidenreich, USMC, in May but was not initially brought back for training camp. He received a call from the Steelers on Sunday and began practicing with the team Monday. Heidenreich, a seventh-round pick by the Steelers in 2026, is also expected to see action tonight.
 
Tecza had a standout career at Navy, earning second-team all-conference honors as a senior. He was also named first-team all-East as both a junior and senior.
 
Tecza made 33 career starts and recorded four touchdown runs of 60 yards or more.
 
He rushed for 2,236 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, including 902 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. He also caught 41 passes for 451 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Tecza topped 100 rushing yards in a game six times, including a 163-yard, one-touchdown performance on just 15 carries in his first career start as a sophomore at Memphis. He also rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and caught a touchdown pass in Navy's upset of USF last fall.
 
Tecza gives Navy five players currently in NFL training camps. He and Heidenreich are with Pittsburgh, while 2nd Lt. Landon Robinson, USMC, was drafted in the seventh round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2026 and 2nd Lt. Rayuan Lane, USMC, was drafted in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025.
 
Joe Cardona, who recently retired from the Navy as a lieutenant commander, is entering his 12th NFL season and his first with the Los Angeles Rams as a long snapper.
