About the Tournament
• The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is named in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman Jackson T. Stephens
• Since the event's inception in 2021, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup tournament committee has extended invitations to individual players as part of its celebration of diversity of education, ethnicity and background. Individuals from two HBCUs (Florida A&M University and Howard University) and three United States Service Academies (United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy and United States Air Force Academy) compete in the stroke-play portion of the competition.
• The three-day competition is slated for 54 holes of stroke play (36 holes on Monday, 18 holes on Tuesday) that will set the field for a final day of match play (Wednesday) based on the stroke-play team finish.
• In addition to a match play champion, the event will also recognize its 54-hole winners upon completion of stroke play.
• The men's field features Houston, Rice, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M and Utah, along with individuals Danny Auffant (Navy), Andre Chang (Army), Eli Huntington (Air Force), Sascha Robinson (Florida A&M), Bear Huff (Howard), Francisco Perez (Howard)
• The women's tournament will feature defending National Champion Stanford, Florida State, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Wake Forest, while individual competitors include Navy senior Emma Tang and junior Vivian Cressman, along with Nevaeh Figueroa (Prairie View A&M), Micaiah Joubert (Jackson State), Lena Durette (Howard) and Alexis Goboy (Howard).

More on Jackson T. Stephens
• Jackson T. Stephens attended the Naval Academy where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1947.
• The field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is named Jack Stephens Field, whose gift of $10 million in 2003 aided in the renovations of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, as well as a handful of other projects part of the United States Naval Academy Campaign: Leaders to Serve the Nation.

The Course
• Fields Ranch East draws its style and cues from the surrounding north Texas landscape, providing a compelling strategic challenge for all golfers. These organic advantages include rolling topography, dry washes, and the meandering Panther Creek.
• Smallish greens with gentle rolls, strong slopes, and false edges place a premium on accurate approach shots. The bunkers are naturally rough-hewn and blend in with the surrounding prairie grasses. The fairways use the same grass as the rough, allowing the corridors to be widened or narrowed based on required conditions for championship golf or day-to-day play. Finally, the ribbon tees can be dynamic, providing multiple options and variety for daily course setup. Outside the ropes, there is enough room for spectators typical of championship golf.

Navy at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup
• Nicholas Klock represented Navy in the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup played Oct. 18-19, 2021 at the par-72 Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. Klock shot a 15-over par 231 (74-75-82) to tie for 26th (36 ind.)
• Keegan Shreves tied for 23rd (42 ind.) with a 2-over par 218 in the second JTS Cup played Oct. 10-11, 2022  at the par-72 Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.
• Taking 38th (42 ind.) at the 2023 JTS Cup was Benjamin Valdez who finished 5-over (77-69-75=221) at the par-xx Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas
• Jack Tarzy tied for 29th (36 ind.) in 2004 with a 14-over par 224 (74-78-72) at the par-70 Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City, Okla.
• Chip Deegan, who won the 2026 Patriot League Championship individual crown, tied for 16th at last year's Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Deegan shot par (210) for the tournament, bookending his second round 2-over par 72 with a pair of 1-under par 69s.

Last Time Out
• Auffant and newcomer Payton Cowhey (Fr / Tallahassee, Fla.) helped pace the Mids at the season-opening Folds of Honor Collegiate last week with a 14-over par 227. Auffant sandwiched a tough second round by posting a pair of 2-over par 73s in the first and third rounds.
• The Mids wrapped up action last Wednesday at the Folds of Honor Collegiate by turning in their lowest round (+9, 293) in five appearances as the prestigious tournament. Navy shot 14 strokes better than Air Force and 12 strokes better than Army in the final round.

Next Up
• Navy will play host to The Goat at the Naval Academy Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Saturday at 8:30 am with a shotgun start.
