Last Time Out: at Brown
Navy opened its season with a 33-17 road loss to Brown in Providence, R.I. Despite trailing 19-5 early in the second half, the Midshipmen staged a resilient rally to pull within two points. However, the Bears halted Navy's momentum with a pair of late tries in the final 20 minutes to seal the victory.
Navy Notes
- Meagan Alvarez leads the team in scoring with 10 points. Her two tries in the season opener were already more than she had in the entire 2025-26 season.
- After scoring two tries during the 15s season last fall, Arica Spencer found her way into the try zone against Brown.
- Twenty-four Midshipmen appeared in the game against the Bears.
- Five Mids — May Conlin, Fiona Morgan, Natalie Peugeot, Serena Rezende Tsao and Lindsey Romero — made their collegiate debuts in the season opener.
- Mia Young, the team's leading scorer last season, registered two points against Brown after drilling a conversion kick.
Scouting AIC
- The Yellow Jackets will play their first game of the season on Saturday after having to postpone their Sept. 6 opener against Queens.
- AIC is the reigning back-to-back NIRA Division II National Champion. The Yellow Jackets finished last season with a 7-1 record in 15s competition and dominated the NIRA Division II playoffs, defeating Frostburg State (107-0) and West Chester (74-0).
- AIC's roster consists of 18 returners and 11 newcomers. Among the returners are Kiyanah Edwards and Camryn Henderson, who were the team's top scorer's last season. Edwards led the team with 95 points on 19 tries, while Henderson totaled 93 points as the Yellow Jackets' primary kicker with 34 conversions and added five tries.
Navy vs. AIC
Saturday's contest will be the second meeting in 15s competition between the two programs. The Midshipmen and Yellow Jackets met in 2022, when Navy dropped a tight defensive battle, 12-5.
