Navy Looking to Extend Unbeaten Streak to Three, as Mids Open Three-Game Road Swing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After completing a three-game homestand, the Navy men's soccer team (1-2-2) begins a three-match road swing on Tuesday with a visit to in-state foe Mount St. Mary's (0-2-2) in Emmitsburg, Md.

The Midshipmen and Mountaineers are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start on ESPN+ at Waldron Family Stadium, as the Mids look to extend their two-game unbeaten streak in the final tune-up before Saturday's Patriot League opener at Holy Cross.

Clark and Nance Receive Patriot League Weekly Honors
Navy picked up a pair of weekly conference awards on Monday, as sophomore Sam Clark was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week while freshman Cohen Nance earned the league's Rookie-of-the-Week honors … The duo was crucial to Navy's 3-0 victory over Presbyterian last Monday and a scoreless Saturday draw against Temple, as Clark posted back-to-back shutouts while Nance tallied a goal on six shots … The awards are the first Patriot League weekly honors for Clark and Nance in their careers … This marks the Mids' second and third weekly awards of the season after Nick Gallucci was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Aug. 24.

Last Time Out
While controlling the offensive tempo for over 80 minutes, Navy was unable to break through as it ended a three-game homestand with a 0-0 draw against Temple on Saturday evening in Annapolis … Backed by goalkeeper Sam Clark posting his second clean sheet in as many games, the Mids kept the Owls in check for almost the whole duration of the scoreless contest by outshooting the visitors, 14-8, but Temple's Gavin Atkinson tallied eight saves to stymie the Navy attack and keep both teams in the game late.

Clark Stepping Up
After Dylan Carmody went down with an injury in the second game of the season, Sam Clark has stepped into the starting role and solidified the Mids' net by going 1-1-2 … Clark enters Tuesday with 247:46 consecutive scoreless minutes in net, dating back to the Aug. 28 match against George Washington … Clark's 0.63 goals against average and .500 shutout percentage are both the best among league goalkeepers, while his .846 save percentage ranks second in the Patriot League.

Navy Notes
Nick Gallucci paces the Patriot League with his three assists on the season, while Cohen Nance's two goals are good to share the league lead in scoring … Duncan Sullivan sits third in the Patriot League with 13 shots and six shots on goal … Navy is 3-0-1 when Sullivan records a point, while the Mids are 2-1-3 when Gallucci tallies a point.

Scouting the Opponent
Mount St. Mary's is coming off a busy week, as a 1-1 home draw against Saint Joseph's last Monday was followed by a 3-0 defeat at Loyola … Christian Kyriacou has scored the Mountaineers' lone goal this season, while Lincoln Bauer has the Mount's one assist so far … Ryan Collins has provided a stable presence in net, making 13 saves over his four starts while limiting the opposition to 1.5 goals per game … A total of 20 newcomers joined the Mountaineers this year, comprised of 16 freshmen and four transfers … Last season saw the Mount go 3-9-5, including posting a 3-6-1 record in MAAC play.

Series History
Navy holds an 8-1-3 edge in the all-time series with Mount St. Mary's, being unbeaten in the last four meetings between the schools … Navy is 2-1-0 when playing the Mount in Emmitsburg … The most recent meeting between the programs was a 2-2 draw in Annapolis to start last season, as Duncan Sullivan and Andrew Schug's goals were negated by Jack Kehoe's late brace on Aug. 21, 2025 … Navy's last trip to Emmitsburg was a 1-0 Mids victory on Sept. 14, 2019.

Up Next
Navy will open Patriot League action on Saturday at Holy Cross, with a 2:00 p.m. opening set for the Mids and Crusaders in Worcester, Mass.
