• Piehl in 2017-18 (So.): Recorded a 9-10 record, including a 1-1 mark in dual action ... dropped a 7-3 decision in the finals against Rutgers’ Razohnn Gross to place second at the Shorty Hitchcock Memorial ... also competed at the Eastern Michigan Open, Navy Classic, Southern Scuffle and represented the Mids at the EIWA Championship ... lost a 3-1 decision in sudden victory to Old Dominion’s Ali Wahab in his first career dual appearance ... came back to post a 7-3 win over George Mason’s Matthew Voss four days later in his second dual appearance.

• 2016-17 (Fr.): Produced a 9-9 mark at heavyweight in his first season ... earned his first collegiate victory by way of an 8-7 decision over Kutztown’s Ryan Appleby at the East Stroudsburg Open ... went on to place second after dropping a 7-2 decision to Lehigh’s Jordan Wood in the finals ... placed sixth at the Harold Nichols Open ... also competed at the Navy Classic, Franklin & Marshall Open and Edinboro Open.

• High School: A 2016 graduate of Rogers High School in Rogers, Minn., Piehl was a two-sport athlete who earned letters in football (3) and wrestling (4) ... a three-time Fargo All-American, Piehl placed twice at the Minnesota State Championship including his senior year when he put together a flawless 42-0 record en route to the title ... represented the state of Minnesota at heavyweight in its dual against Team USA ... earned All-State (Minn.) and all-conference honors ... also earned all-conference recognition as a lineman for the football team ... member of the National Honor Society.
