SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Named NRA Air Rifle Honorable Mention All-American … Selected to the All-GARC Air Rifle Honorable Mention team … Mayes led the Midshipmen in 2019-20 with an air rifle mark of 589.6, which is second-best in program history … Mayes also finished tied for the team lead in aggregate scoring with an average of 1,165.4 and finished third on the team in smallbore with an average of 575.8 … She set the program record in air rifle scoring for a round with a 60-shot total of 597 on Jan. 19 against Nebraska … Over her 14 events this season, eight featured air rifle scores of at least 590 points … She set a career-high in smallbore with a 581 against Army in the Midshipmen’s Star Match victory … Mayes posted a career-best overall score on Oct. 27 against The Citadel with a total of 1,173 points … She was also slated to compete on Navy’s NCAA National Championship squad.
FRESHMAN (2018-19): Mayes made 12 appearances for Navy during her freshman campaign, starting 10 times in air rifle … Posted her career-best in air rifle right of the gate in a tri-match against TCU and VMI with a 594 … Mayes then shot her best smallbore score of the season with a 572 against Army in the Star Match … Her best aggregate score of the year came in her first collegiate road match at Memphis with a 1,160 … She finished the season with an average of 586.3 in smallbore and 567.3, along with a 1,153.7 in overall scoring
PRIOR TO NAVY: Three-time letter winner with the Rio Rancho High School MCJROTC air rifle team … In Sporter Air Rifle, she competed at the 2016 State JROTC Championship and won the event as an individual, along with winning the team title … Finished as the runner-up individually in the 2016 regional championship, where she helped her team finish first … In 2018, she finished as the team and state runner-up in Precision Air Rifle.
