SENIOR (2021-22): Helped lead Navy to its 29th all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship by leading the team in average scoring among all three disciplines: smallbore (586.4), air rifle (595.1) and aggregate (1,181.7) … The senior set a new program record in individual air rifle scoring (599) against Memphis while also setting a new program-best mark in overall scoring against West Virginia at 1,186 points … With the contributions of Zanti leading the way, the Mids produced new program records for scoring in each of the three disciplines, including 4,719 points in aggregate, 2,382 in air rifle and 2,346 in smallbore … In total, Zanti posted nine air rifle rounds above a 595, in addition to scoring 590 points twice in smallbore and posting a mark of 1,180 points or higher 10 times … Zanti also produced new program records for individual scoring average in air rifle (595.1) and aggregate (1,181.7) ... For his efforts, the senior was named an All-GARC First-Team Selection in air rifle and aggregate, while being a second-team honoree in smallbore … Zanti was also garnered CRCA All-America honors, being named a First Team All-American in in smallbore and air rifle, in addition to being a second-team selection in aggregate … The senior became first Midshipman to earn First Team All-American honors since 2010, along with becoming only the fourth player in program history to be named a First Team All-American in both disciplines.
JUNIOR (2020-21): Zanti competed as an individual at the 2021 NCAA National Championships where competed in smallbore and finished 36th with 575 points … Zanti finished tied for the team lead in air rifle with a score of 592.1 to set a new program record … He also led the team with a 580.6 average in smallbore while also posting a team-high 1173.2 average in aggregate scoring … In smallbore, he broke the 580 mark nine times and had a career-high 585 against Kentucky on Nov. 21 … Zanti scored at least 590 points in air rifle eight times where he set a career-high of 596 against VMI (Sept. 26) and Nebraska (Nov. 13) … He started the season with a career day against VMI as he fired a 1,180 in overall scoring, which was his first of seven scores over 1,170 points … CRCA Air Rifle Honorable Mention
SOPHOMORE (2019-20): During 14 events as a sophomore, Zanti finished tied for the team lead in aggregate average with a 1,165.4 for the year … He also finished second on the team air rifle average with a 589.4 and second in smallbore with an average of 576.0 … Zanti had seven air rifle rounds of at least 590 points with his career-best coming in the President’s Trophy Match with a 594 … Zanti capped his season with the best event of his season with a 1,175 at the GARC Championship for a career-high and he also posted a career-high in smallbore with a 582 ... Zanti was also slated to compete on Navy’s NCAA National Championship.
FRESHMAN (2018-19): During his freshman campaign, Zanti finished second on the team in air rifle average (588.3) and aggregate average (1,164.1) … His average of 575.8 was third overall for Navy … He notched a season-high of 593 in back-to-back weeks against John Jay in the NCAA Qualifier and then at the GARC Championship … At the GARC Championship, Zanti qualified for the individual finals where he finished seventh overall in the field … Shot a season-best 581 in smallbore against Ole Miss as he appeared in all 13 competitions for Navy starting 11 times in smallbore and nine times in air rifle
PRIOR TO NAVY: A graduate of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, he competed on the school cross country team and competed at the club level for rifle … In rifle, he took part in the CMP 3 PAR Team Nationals during the 2018 season … Competed at the American Legion Team Nationals in 2017 … Individually, he competed at the State Junior Olympic Championship five times from 2015 to 2018 … Was the co-captain of his rifle team in 2017 … Lettered three seasons in cross country at Bishop Sullivan Catholic.
PERSONAL: Son of Guy and Kathleen … His father, Guy Zanti ’82, captained the USNA wrestling team and then wrestled in the fleet on the All-Navy Wrestling Team and the Interservice Wrestling Team … His mother, Kathleen Murray ’84, was a cheerleader at USNA … Both his father and mother served in the Navy for 20 years and both retired as Commanders … His sister Claire Zanti was on the North Carolina State rifle team from 2016-20 … Competed with Owen Goad ’22 who will compete at Jacksonville State and Nathaniel Gardnor ’22 who will compete at the Virginia Military Institute … Earned Eagle Scout rank ... Named to the Naval Academy's Commandant's List twice and Dean's List once.
