Joined Naval Academy Athletic Association: July 2022
Marshal Filipowicz joined the Navy staff in July of 2022, where he serves as an Assistant Sports Information Director.
Prior to Navy, Filipowicz spent the 2021-22 season at Michigan State as an athletic communications staff assistant. With MSU, he was the primary media contact for wrestling, track & field/cross country, field hockey and women’s tennis. He also served as the secondary media contact for the Spartans’ men’s basketball team while assisting with duties for football, volleyball and baseball.
The 2020-21 campaign saw Filipowicz hold the title of Athletic Marketing and Communications Consultant at D’Youville College.
Filipowicz spent his first two years in the industry as an athletic communications graduate assistant for his alma-mater, Canisius College. For the Griffs, he was the primary contact for the baseball, volleyball and rowing programs, while handling additional duties as the athletic department’s social media coordinator and as the secondary contact for ice hockey.
Filipowicz also spent the 2016 season as a public relations intern for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, before serving as a MLB Gameday pitch-by-pitch stringer for the team from 2017-21. Additionally, he assisted the Toronto Blue Jays organization during the 2020 and 2021 seasons when the team played in Buffalo.
A two-time graduate of Canisius, Filipowicz received his bachelor’s degree in sport management (2018) and his master’s degree in sport administration (2020). The Buffalo, New York native currently resides in Annapolis.
