Captain Brandon D. Jones is entering his second year as Director of Player Development. In June of 2024, Captain Jones received orders back to the Naval Academy to assume the responsibilities of the overall mentorship, guidance, and progression of all members of the football team for the Naval Academy.

A native of Dallas, Texas,  Jones lettered in football and track before being recruited to play at Navy. Jones earned a spot on the varsity roster his freshman year primarily on special teams, and worked his way up to a starting position his final three years as both inside and outside linebacker. He earned four varsity letters.

In May of 2018, upon graduating from the Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics, he accepted a commission into the United States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant. Consequent to graduating, Jones was selected as one of five graduate assistants working on the football staff before attending The Basic School.   After completing The Basic School, he was assigned the military occupational specialty of Air Support Control Officer and attended the Air Support Control Officer Course in 29 Palms California. Upon graduation, Captain Jones reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 1, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, and was immediately selected to be Second Platoon Commander, Air Support Company.

After 7 months, Captain Jones took over as the Squadron S-3 Training Officer in Charge, where he was responsible for facilitating and documenting all fiscal and calendar year-required Marine Corps training events. During this time, Captain Jones supported numerous Squadron, Group, Service, Division, and Joint-level exercises in multiple positions including Senior Air Director and Officer in Charge.

In the summer of 2023, Capt Jones was selected to serve as Executive Officer for Air Support Company Bravo, where he continued to serve in both garrison and tactical billets in multiple geographic combatant commands.

Upon successful tour as Executive Officer, Captain Jones was selected among his peers to assume command of Air Support Company Bravo, Marine Air Support Squadron 1. During his time as Company Commander Captain Jones took his company on multiple Squadron, and Division Level Exercises and Weapon and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course 1-24 in Yuma Arizona. The WTI course is a seven-week training event hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One, providing standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine aviation training and readiness, and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics.

Captain Jones was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his efforts serving at Marine Air Support Squadron 1. He currently resides in Annapolis  with his wife Samantha, daughter Ava, and son Isaiah.
