• 2022: A starter in 1 of the 5 games in which he played, including making his collegiate debut in the Mids’ opener against Delaware ... made his first-collegiate start in the Mids’ game against Notre Dame where he recorded 6 tackles and posted a tackle for loss for the third-consecutive game before suffering a season-ending injury ... part of a defensive unit that did not surrender a point in the second half against Notre Dame, marking the first time it has held a team scoreless in the second half since the 2021 Army game ... Notre Dame mustered just 66 yards rushing, the fewest by the Irish in the series since they rushed for 60 yards on Nov. 7, 2009 ... Navy held the Irish to just 12 yards in the second half (-23 R, 35 P) ... the Mids recorded a season-high tying 5 sacks (1.5 Colin Ramos, 1.5 John Marshall, 1 Rayuan Lane III, 0.5 Nicholas Straw, 0.5 Clay Cromwell) ... recorded a career-high 7 tackles, including a tackle for loss at Cincinnati ... also broke up a pass ... played the game of his career in the Mids’ victory over Temple where he intercepted QB E.J. Navy’s defense held Temple to just 20 yards rushing, the fourth fewest in the Niumatalolo era and the third time in 2022 Navy held an opponent to 25 or fewer yards rushing (13 by Delaware, 25 by Tulsa) ... despite Temple allowing just 4 sacks all year, Navy sacked the Owls 4 times (Tyler Fletcher, John Marshall, Dashaun Peele, Jacob Busic) ... Navy’s defense also forced Temple to punt 7 times, tying (Delaware) for the most by an opponent in 2022.

• High School / Personal: A 2020 graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, Va., Peele attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2020-21 academic year ... a three-year football letter winner who was a 2019 All-Tidewater selection and a First-Team Virginia High School League Class 5-A All-State (Va.) selection as a defensive back in 2019 ... led Maury HS to the 2019 VHSL Class 5A State Football crown, the program’s first since 1939 ... it defeated Stone Bridge 28-21 to cap the Commodores’ perfect 15-0 season ... also received offers from 8 other schools, including Army, Charlotte and Old Dominion ... son of Marcus Whickum and Denita Peele-Whickum ... majoring in political science.
