Naval Academy Athletics

•    At Navy: Enters the fall second on the depth chart ... has appeared in 11 career games as both a quarterback and running back... has earned one varsity letter.

•    2025: Played in 10 of the 13 games, seeing action as both a quarterback and the backup at running back ... carried the ball twice for 16 yards in the Liberty Bowl win over Cincinnati ... moved back to QB for the Notre Dame game due to the injury to Blake Horvath ... was 0-for-2 passing against the Irish, but gained a career-high 37 yards on 7 carries ... his lone carrry at North Texas was a 16-yarder ... ran the ball 3 times for 31 yards, including a career-long 23-yard run against Air Force ... also caught the first-2 passes of his career, including an 8-yarder on 4th-and-1 that sealed the victory over the Falcons ... carried the ball twice for 6 yards against Rice ... appeared in the Tulsa game as a running back where he carried the ball 6 times for 18 yards ... carried the ball twice for 14 yards as a running back against UAB ... appeared in Navy’s 52-7 win over VMI in the opener where he carried the ball 3 times for 36 yards and featured a  22-yard run.

•    2024: Made his collegiate debut at East Carolina where he carried the ball 5 times for 20 yards and fumbled on a third down pass play.

•    High School / Personal:  A 2024 graduate of John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, Gutierez was a four-sport athlete, earning letters in baseball (3), basketball (3), football (3) and track & field (4) ... selected as the 2023 Jon Wayne Player of the Year ... earned Class 6A All-Area football honors and was named the District 29-6A Offensive MVP his senior year ... garnered Second-Team All-District honors in baseball his junior year ... regional finalist in the 4x200m relay as a junior ... led John Jay HS to the Bi-District and Area Championships in football his senior year ... he threw for 1,722 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior, while rushing for 1,089 yards and 19 TDs ... ran in 7 two-point conversions ... also received an offer from Army ... member of the National Honor Society ...  father, Gary, is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons where he garnered First-Team All-America honors as an offensive lineman in 1999 ... he was a four-time All-American Southwest Conference (ASC) selection and the 1998 and ‘99 ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year ... he became the first Hispanic coach in John Jay High School history when he was hired in April of 2013, a post he still holds ... son of Gary and Patricia Gutierrez ... majoring in political science.
