• High School / Personal: A 2016 graduate of Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Matthews attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2016-17 academic year ... a two-sport standout who earned letters in football (3) and volleyball (2) ... a three-time Trinity League selection as a linebacker, earning honorable mention as a sophomore, second team as a junior and first team as a senior ... also garnered all-county recognition his senior year ... took recruiting visits to Army, Boise State, Cal and San Diego State ... son of Timothy and Julie Matthews ... majoring in political science.
