Naval Academy Athletics

•    At Navy: Will compete for playing time in the secondary, as well as on special teams ...  starter in 3 games during his career (3 Jr) ... has earned 2 varsity letters.

•    2022: A member of special teams, he appeared in 10 games, while also earning 3 starts at corner ... finished the year with 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops ... posted 3 tackles against Houston ... chipped in a solo tackle against SMU ... made his first-collegiate start at cornerback in the Tulsa game where he led Navy with a career-high 7 tackles, including 6 solo stops ... member of a Navy defenisve unit that held Tulsa to just 25 yards rushing, the fourth fewest in the Niumatalolo era and the second time in 2022 Navy held an opponent to 25 or fewer yards rushing (13 by Delaware) ... the Mids recorded their first safety  (intentional grounding in the end zone by Tulsa QB Davis Brin // 2Qtr) since the Tulane game on Sept. 19, 2020 ... Navy forced 4 Tulsa turnovers (3 interceptions / 1 fumble) ... part of a defense that held Air Force, the nation’s top-ranked rushing team (412.2 yds/gm), to just 200 yards on the ground.

•    2021: Saw action in 11 of the 12 games primarily as a member of the Mids’ special teams ... closed out the season with 8 tackles ... chipped in a pair of tackles at Notre Dame ... pitched in a solo stop at Tulsa ... turned in a career-high 3 tackles against SMU where he saw significant playing time on defense ... chipped in a tackle against Air Force in his first service academy appearance ... turned in a solo stop in the opener against Marshall in what was his first-collegiate game.

•    2020: Did not see any varsity action.

•    High School / Personal: A 2020 graduate of Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, Texas, Collins V was a three-sport athlete who earned letters in basketball, football and track & field ... two-time First-Team All-District selection in football ... garnered Academic All-State accolades as a senior ... served a football team captain his senior year ... earned a scholar-athlete award sponsored by the local chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame ... received 17 FBS and FCS offers, including Army and Navy ... father served 23 years in the Navy and his mother served in the Army reserves ... son of Willie IV and Denise Collins ... majoring in political science.
