Naval Academy Athletics

As a Sophomore: Kent competed in 20 events as a crew or reserve. He won the Aaron Szambecki Team race and the SMC Quad Fleet Race. He had an additional 6 finishes in the top 3. 

As a Freshman: Kent competed in 7 events in his first year as a crew at Navy. His best results included a 3rd place finish in the Riley Cup, Kings Point Dinghy Open, and the Washington College Team Race. He was named to the MAISA All-Academic Team at the conclusion of the year.

Prior to Navy: Graduated from Anacortes High School in 2016. Competed on the Anacortes High School sailing team his senior year and swam all four years on the varsity high school swim team. Member of National Honor Society, high school band, class vice president, and Eagle Scout. Son of Kent and Christine Mathes. Majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
