Biography
As a junior: Nicholas competed in seven regattas as a skipper. His best results this season were a fifth at the Charleston Spring Coed Interconference, and a third at the Washington College Team Race.
As a Sophomore: Nicholas competed in six regattas as a skipper and two match racing events as the main trimmer. He helped Navy to place second in the Washington College team race and second at the MAISA Match Race, enabling Navy’s qualification for the ICSA Match Race Nationals for the first time since 2012.
As a Freshman: Nicholas competed in 10 regattas as both a skipper, crew, and a member of the match race team. His best results included a victory in the Intrepid Trophy with the match race team and a third place finish at the Hanbury Trophy Team Race.
Prior to Navy: Graduated from Antilles school in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I in 2015. He sailed on the multi-national championship varsity team during all four years of his high school career and served as the captain of the sailing team his senior year. Nicholas then attended Portsmouth Abbey for a post graduate year apart of Naval Foundation Program. During his time at Portsmouth Abbey he participated in varsity cross country, varsity swimming, and varsity sailing, while also being a dean’s list scholar the entire year.
