Biography
As a Junior: Tyler competed at 9 events as a skipper. He placed 2nd in the Washington College Team Race and had three additional regatta finishes within the top 4. Tyler earned MAISA and ICSA All Academic Honors. At the end of the season, Tyler was elected as the team captain for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.
As a Sophomore: Tyler competed in 7 regattas as a skipper. His best results were a third place finish in both the Washington College Team Race and the Hanbury Trophy Team Race.
As a Freshman: Tyler competed in 6 regattas as a skipper and 3 regattas as a crew during his first season at the naval academy. Some of his finishes include a 3rd place at the Tom Curtis Memorial and 4th place at the Charleston Spring Coed.
Prior to Navy: Graduated from Portsmouth High School, RI in 2015. Was a member and captain of the sailing team at Portsmouth, as well as a member of the cross country and ice hockey teams. Sailed Lasers out of Sail Newport in national and international regattas. Son of Rick and Carline Fleig. Majoring in Systems Engineering.
