- Richards had a solid junior season, appearing in 27 games with six starts - missed the first three games to a stress fracture in his left leg - also played most of the year with a partially-torn miniscus in his right knee - averaged 3.4 ppg and 3.0 rpg and was one of the Patriot League leaders in offensive rebounding, hauling down 1.78 offensive rebounds per game - also grabbed 10 steals and dished out nine assists, while shooting 50.7 percent from the field - scored a career-high 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds in his first career start against Canisius (Nov. 20) - in his first game of the year against Texas-San Antonio (Nov. 17), Richards scored seven points with four rebounds in just 20 minutes - grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, including five offensive, against Seton Hall (Nov. 23) -ââ'¬'scored eight points with five rebounds in a win over Towson (Nov. 29) - grabbed at least four rebounds 10 different times - yanked down six rebounds (five offensive) in 19 minutes against Army (Jan. 27) -ââ'¬'dished out a career-best three assists in a win at Lehigh (Feb. 13) - was a member of the NABCââ'¬Ë†Honors Court announced during the summer before his senior year. - Richards was called up from the junior varsity team 10 games into the season and appeared in 12 of the final 20 games of the year - saw his first action against Delaware Valley College (Dec. 17), scoring a career-high four points with three rebounds and an assist against the Aggies in 12 minutes- netted three points and two rebounds against Washington (Md.)ââ'¬Ë†(Dec. 20) in just seven minutes - scored a pair of points against Georgetown (Dec. 23), Yale (Dec. 30)ââ'¬Ë†and Bucknell (Jan. 6) - tied for the team lead in rebounds against Georgetown with three - grabbed steals against Georgetown and Yale - played in 12 of the first 14 games after he was called up, but did not see any action in the last six outings. - Was a four-sport athlete at Kent Island High School, graduating in May 2004 - was a three-time letterwinner in basketball, earning a pair of all-region honors as well as Team MVP accolades - also served as the team captain during his senior year - led the 2003 Kent Island team to the district title - also lettered three years in lacrosse and cross country and once in track - helped track team to the district and regional titles in 2004 - was a member of National Honor Society. - Full name is Brian Hammond Richards - is left-handed - born March 30, 1986, in Calverty County, Md. - son of Mark and Nanci Richards - grabbed the cover off the Herndon Monument at the end of his freshman year in 2005 during commissioning week. His time was the fastest time for the climb since 1981 - uncle, Robert Jr., was a 1979 Naval Academy graduate - grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore and was a huge fan of Navy basketball -ââ'¬'majoring in ocean engineering, Richards was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, sporting a 3.25 cumulativeââ'¬Ë†GPA. # GO NAVY #
