The native of Norfolk, Va., who was a multi-year all-conference performer at Maury High School, graduated from Virginia in 2023 with a degree in youth and social innovation.  Virginia compiled an overall record of 87-36 and an Atlantic Coast Conference regular season mark of 56-22 in his four seasons and made three postseason tournament appearances.

The Cavaliers had posted a 23-7 record and tied for second place (15-5) in the ACC during his freshman season in 2019-20 when the COVID-19 pandemic halted postseason play.  Virginia went on to tally an 18-7 record and win the ACC’s regular season (13-4) in 2020-21, a 21-14 mark and finish in sixth place (12-8) in the conference in 2021-22 (12-8) and a 25-8 record to go along with a share of the ACC title (15-5) during his 2022-23 senior season.  The Cavaliers played in the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and ‘23 and reached the quarterfinal round of the NIT in 2022.

Coleman, who walked on to the team, appeared in 33 games in his career.  He was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll (comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year) in each of his four years and to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court (recognizes junior, senior and graduate student men’s basketball players who finished the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher) in each of his two eligible seasons.

At Virginia / Coaching Career (2023-24 to 2024-25)
Coleman remained in Charlottesville upon graduating to work with the Cavaliers under head coaches Tony Bennett (2023-24) and Ron Sanchez (2024-25).  Virginia totaled a 38-28 record in Coleman’s two seasons while he began working toward a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs.
