· Competed on the Navy Basketball Development Team.
HIGH SCHOOL:
· Lettered twice in basketball at Waconia High School, graduating in 2015.
· Helped team to a third-place finish at the 2015 Minnesota Class 3A state tournament.
· Named to the All-State Tournament Team.
· Team won a 2015 sectional championship.
· Named to the All-Wright County Conference Team.
· Selected to the all-area team in 2015.
· Averaged 13 points and seven rebounds as a senior.

· Spent the 2015-16 academic year at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island.

· Son of Michael Smith and Sheri Melander-Smith.
· Has a five-year-old sister Ella Grace and a three-year-old brother Jackson Ciro.
· Uncle, Jon Melander, and cousin, Rian Melander, played football at the University of Minnesota.
