• A four year letterwinner in cross country at Mineral Ridge High School, where he also lettered four years in track and field
• Won the OHSAA Northeast DIII Trumble County individual title
• Named team captain in both cross country and track and field his junior and senior campaigns
• A two-time all-county and all-state member (2013-14)
• Son of Charles Smith and Amy Reilly
