• 2023 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
2024 // Sophomore Year
• Appeared in 11 of Navy’s 16 games where he produced 3 caused turnovers, 6 ground balls and 3 points (1G, 2A)
• He was part of a unit that was ranked 24th nationally and led the Patriot League in scoring defense (10.75) ... the Mids held 7 of their 16 opponents to single digits (Mount St. Mary’s, Hofstra, Boston U., Johns Hopkins, Holy Cross, Colgate, Lafayette)
• Member of a Navy defensive that held Loyola scoreless for 22:58 between the 3rd (13:03) and 4th (5:05) quarters in the Patriot League Quarterfinals ... it allowed Navy to go on a 3-0 run and take the lead for good
• Punched in his 1st goal of the season and 2nd of his career off and assist from long-stick midfielder AJ Marsh in transition against Loyola
• Navy’s defense held #12 Army scoreless for 27:27, including the entire 3rd quarter, allowing the Mids to go on a 5-0 run and tie the game early in the 4th quarter
• Led a Navy defensive effort that held Lafayette to single digits for the 22nd time in the 25-game series history ... it marked the 7th time this spring Navy has held an opponent under 10 goals
• Navy’s defensive unit held #17 Colgate to just 2 goals over nearly a 30-minute stretch (8:06 1Qtr - 8:26 4Qtr), allowing Navy to overcome an early 4-0 deficit and eventual 10-9 win ... the Mids held Colgate, who came into the game averaging 13.00 goals per game, to single digits (9) for just the 2nd time (Villanova) this season
• Returned to the field in Navy’s win over #8 Johns Hopkins, his first appearance since an injury prior to the Towson contest ... part of a Navy defense that held Johns Hopkins to single digits for the first time this season (avg. 13.00) ... also held the Blue Jays to just 3 goals over the final 48-plus minutes, including forcing scoring droughts of 22:41 between the 1st and 3rd quarters and 19:21 between the 3rd and 4th quarters
• Member of Navy’s defensive unit that held Hofstra scoreless for over 19 minutes between the 1st and 3rd quarters, allowing Navy to put together a 6-0 run and hold an 8-2 halftime lead and eventual 16-8 win
• Dealt out his second assist of the season (and his career)
• Part of a defensive effort that held Mount St. Mary’s to just 6 goals in the opener ... recorded a caused turnover, ground ball and dealt out his first-career assist
2023 // Freshman Year
• Appeared in 14 of Navy’s 16 contests where he recorded 6 ground balls, a caused turnover and scored a goal
• Member of a defensive unit that closed out 2023 ranked 10.44 nationally and #2 in the Patriot League in scoring defense, holding opponents to 10.44 goals per game
• Navy’s defensive unit held Lafayette to its second-fewest goals of the season with 6 and fewest since the Leopards lost a 14-5 decision to Delaware in the second week of the season ... Navy held Lafayette scoreless for the first 14:19 of the game ... after the Leopards got to within one (6-5) in the third quarter, the Mids held them without a goal for the next 19 minutes, giving up a goal with 1:00 left in the game
• Part of a Navy’s defense that held Boston U., the nation’s 8th-ranked scoring offense (14.75), to single digits for the first time since last year’s NCAA Tournament game against Princeton
• Produced his first-career caused turnover in the Mids’ conference win at Holy Cross
• Scored his first-collegiate goal off an assist from Anthony Ghobriel in the Mids’ loss at High Point
• Navy’s defense is now 65-1 since 2003 (7-0 under Amplo) when holding an opponent to 5 or fewer goals after defeating Queens 19-5 ... the Mids held the Royals scoreless for the first 34 minutes of the contest before allowing a goal
• Part of a defensive unit that held Mount St. Mary’s to just 2 goals in the first half en route to a 13-7 victory in the opener ... turned in a pair of caused turnovers
• Made his collegiate debut in the Mids’ opener against Mount St. Mary’s
High School
• 2022 graduate of Huntingtown High School in Huntingtown, Md.
• Two-sport athlete who earned letters in football (3) and lacrosse (4)
• Two-year captain (2021, ‘22) of the lacrosse team, who garnered all-conference honors as a sophomore and junior
• Led Huntingtown to 2 conference titles, 3 region titles and a the 2022 State 2A Championship Game in lacrosse
• Three-time all-conference (2019, ‘20, ‘21) football selection who also garnered All-State (Md.) and All-Met honors as a senior while serving as team captain
• Named the 2021 Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in football ... recorded 101 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 4 sacks his senior year
• Led Huntingtown to 3 conference titles, 3 region titles and a pair of state semifinal appearances in football
• Member of the National Honor Society
• Peer tutor / mentor for struggling students both academically and socially
• Drew interest from and took recruiting visits to Georgetown and Yale
Personal
• Son of Bill and Nicole Connolly
• Majoring in Operations Research, he owns a 3.27 grade-point average
• Has earned Commandant’s (F2022) List accolades
• Brother, Trent, is a senior at Wingate College in North Carolina and a member of the lacrosse team
