Burgoyne in 2019 (Sr.): Served as Brigade Commander at the Naval Academy during the fall semester ... chosen for his outstanding leadership performance, he was responsible for much of the Brigade’s day-to-day activities, as well as the professional training of other midshipmen ... in a vote by his teammates following fall ball, he was selected to wear jersey #40 in honor of fallen Navy SEAL and former Navy lacrosse player Lt. Brendan Looney, who was killed in Afghanistan on Sept. 21, 2010.
2018 (Jr.): Recorded his third career assist and first of the season, dealing out a pass to rookie Logan Spilker for his first collegiate goal in Navy’s opener against UMBC.
2017 (So.): A member of the Mids’ second midfield line, he amassed four points on two goals and two assists ... a starter in two of the 14 games in which he played ... recorded his second assist of the season, the first in Patriot League play, on a Ray Wardell goal against Loyola ... scored his second career goal in the Mids’ loss at Lafayette ... also grabbed a career-high four ground balls ... made his first career start in the Penn game, starting in place of Drew Smiley who shifted over to attack ... took one shot in the game ... scored his first career goal in Navy’s 13-7 win over Bucknell ... produced his first career point on an assist to Smiley’s open-net goal in the closing seconds of the win over Delaware.
2016 (Fr.): Made his only varsity appearance of the year in the Mids’ 16-9 victory over Colgate ... named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
More on Burgoyne: A 2015 graduate of Darien High School in Darien, Conn., Burgoyne was a two-sport athlete who lettered in basketball (2) and lacrosse (4) ... garnered First-Team All-State (Conn.), First-Team All-FCIAC and Western Connecticut Lacrosse Officials Player of the Year his senior season ... led Darien to the 2014 and ‘15 Connecticut FCIAC Lacrosse Championship ... in 2014, the team won the Class M State Championship and in 2015, won the Class L State Championship ...
