Naval Academy Athletics

Hickey in 2013 (Sr.): Voted by his peers to serve as team captain in 2013 ... Navy[apos]s first goalkeeper to serve as team captain since 2005 when Jon Birsner shared the captaincy with 2004 Kelly Award winner and two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year Matt Russell.

2012 (Jr.): Made his first-career appearance in the Mids[apos] loss to Jacksonville at the Moe[apos]s Southwest Grill Classic ... made two saves and gave up five goals in 30 minutes of action ... standing 6-7, he is the tallest Div. I men[apos]s lacrosse goalkeeper.

2010 (Fr.), 2011 (So.): Did not see any varsity action ... gained experience in the system as a scout team player.

More on Hickey: A 2008 graduate of Chaminade High School, Hickey attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2008-09 academic year ... a two-sport standout who earned letters in lacrosse (2) and indoor track & field (1) ... named a High School All-American and was the recipient of the 2008 Ronald D. Winchester Award as Chaminade[apos]s team MVP ... a Chaminade graduate, Winchester went on to attend the Naval Academy and was a four-year member of the football team ... Winchester was killed in action in Iraq on Sept. 3, 2004 ... selected to Newsday[apos]s 2008 All Long Island Lacrosse Team ... ranked No. 7 among Inside Lacrosse's 'X-Factor Goalkeepers' in the Class of 2008 ... member of the National Honor Society ... brother, Daniel, played lacrosse and football at Notre Dame (`06) ... named to the Commandant[apos]s List following his fall of 2012 semester ... son of Donald and Colleen Hickey ... majoring in English ... his service assignment is Marine Corps Ground.
