• Stands 4th on Navy’s career top-20 faceoff wins list (277) and trails 3rd-place William Wallace (313 / 2003-07) by 36 ... he is 23 wins shy of becoming only the 4th faceoff specialist in program history to reach 300 wins
• Needs just 5 ground balls to join Navy’s career top-20 ground balls leader board ... he owns 134 ground balls to date ... Greyson Torain (139 / 2016-19) and Matt Pawlikowski (139 / 1990-93) are currently tied for 19th on the list
• A member of the USA Lacrosse squad that won silver at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship played in Jeju Island, Korea ... Hayashi joins former teammate Jackson Bonitz as the only Navy players selected to the U.S. Men’s U20 Team since it was established in 1988 (1988, ‘92, ‘96, ‘99, ‘03, ‘08, ‘12, ‘16, ‘20/22, ‘25).

2025 // Sophomore Year
• Appeared in 8 games, missing 7 contests due to a knee injury he suffered against Penn State in the 4th game of the season
• Won 63 of the 119 draws (52.9) he took and grabbed 29 ground balls
• Won 4 of the 9 faceoffs against Lafayette in the Patriot League Quarterfinals
• Won 10 of the 15 draws he took at Bucknell, while also picking up 4 ground balls ... with his 10 wins, he moved past Logan West (266 / 2009-12) for 4th on Navy’s all-time faceoff wins list
• Split the faceoff duties with Colin Shadowens at Loyola where he won 7 of the 15 draws he took and grabbed 5 ground balls
• After missing 7 games (Boston U / Lehigh / Johns Hopkins / Le Moyne / Holy Cross / Colgate / Lafayette) due to injury, he made his return in the game against #5 Army where he was 1 for 7
• Won 8 of the 14 draws he took (all in the 1st half) against #10 Penn State en route to moving past Joe Varello (249 / 2015-18) for 6th on Navy’s all-time faceoff wins leader board
• Had a strong performance against #18 Towson where he got the best of Towson’s all-time faceoff wins leader Matt Constantinides, winning 16 of the 26 (61.5) draws he took in the contest ... he was particularly strong during Navy’s 8-1 run between the 1st (8:38) and 2nd (13:03) quarters, where he won 7 of the 9 draws he took
• Won 8 of the 10 faceoffs (80.0) he took in Navy’s 22-9 win over Iona ... also grabbed 4 ground balls
• Struggled in Navy’s opener at High Point where he won just 9 of the 23 draws (39.1) he took and grabbed 3 ground balls

2024 // Freshman Year
• A 2024 Second-Team All-Patriot League selection, he is one of only 5 Navy freshmen all-time to garner All-Patriot League accolades, joining midfielder Basil Daratsos (2007), faceoff specialist Brady Dove (2014), defenseman Jackson Bonitz (2021) and AJ Marsh (2024)
• Named the 2024 Patriot League Rookie of the Year ... he is just the 3rd Navy player to earn the award, joining Billy Looney (2004) and Tucker Hull (2011) ... he is the 4th faceoff specialist in Patriot League history (since 1991) to earn the award, joining Colgate’s Peter Strid (1993), Lehigh’s Craig Brown (1995) and Colgate’s Parker Gibson (1998)
• Recipient of the Lt. Brendan Looney Award, presented to that player who leads by example, displays mental and physical toughness and shows dedication to his teammates 
• Ranked #16 on Inside Lacrosse’s list of early season freshmen impact players and #11 on the midseason list
• Ranked #19 nationally and #2 in the Patriot League in faceoff winning percentage (214-372, 57.5) and #22 in ground balls per game (105 / 6.56)
• Officially broke the Navy single-season faceoff wins record against Loyola in the Patriot League Quarterfinals ... he entered the game tied with Anthony Ghobriel (185 / 2023) for the record ... he is the only player in school history to reach 200 faceoff wins in a single season
• His 214 wins tied for the 10th most in program history alongside Lehigh’s Conor Gaffney (2018) and Loyola’s Graham Savio (2017)
• Won 14 of the 26 draws (53.8) he took against Loyola (4.19) in the regular season to break the Navy freshman records for faceoff wins and attempts ... both records had previously been held by Brady Dove (163-289 / 2014) ... Hayashi’s 57.5 winning percentage is 3rd best among Navy freshmen all-time
• Finished the year with 105 ground balls, 1 of only 2 players in school history to reach 100 ground balls in a single season ... he broke the single-season school record with his 11 ground balls against Loyola (4.30) in the Patriot League Quarterfinals ... Brady Dove previously held the record with 100 ground balls in 2017
• Along with teammate Ian McGullam, represented Navy on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team
• Won 11 of the 22 draws (50.0) he took against Lehigh in the Patriot League Semifinals
• Won 18 of the 26 draws (69.2) against Loyola in the Patriot League Quarterfinals and picked up 11 ground balls ... his 18 wins were the most by a Navy player in a Patriot League Tournament contest, as were the 18 total team wins ... the 26 attempts were also the most by a Navy player in tournament history ... his 11 ground balls broke the Navy record for most ground balls in a Patriot League Tournament contest
• Named to the USILA Div. I National Team of the Week, while also garnering Patriot League Faceoff Specialist AND Rookie of the Week honors following his performance against Bucknell in the regular-season finale ... he won 20 of 28 draws (71.4) and scooped up 12 ground balls ... his wins, attempts, winning percentage and ground balls marks were all career highs
• His 20 wins were the most by a Navy player since Joe Varello tied the school record with 21 wins against Loyola in 2018
• The 20 wins are tied as the 4th most in the program’s 117-year history (21 wins record / achieved 3 times)
• His 12 ground balls are tied for the 5th most in program history and tied as the most during the Joe Amplo era
• His performance against the Bison helped him break the Navy freshman record for ground balls ... the previous record was 83 set by Brady Dove in 2014
• Faced his most difficult foe of the season against #12 Army where he met Will Coletti who is ranked #2 in the nation in faceoff winning percentage ... Coletti bested the rookie by just 1 (13-12), as Hayashi won 12 of the 25 draws and led Navy with 6 ground balls
• Won 11 of 23 (47.8) faceoffs at Lafayette (4.6) where he grabbed 4 ground balls and dealt out his 2nd assist of the season
• Named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week for a 3rd time this season following his 13 for 22 (59.1) performance in the win over #17 Colgate ... after going just 4 for 9 in the opening half, he won 9 of the 13 draws in the second half and 5 for 6 in the 4th quarter ... also grabbed a team-high 9 ground balls
• Won 8 of the 12 draws (66.7) he took in the opening half against Holy Cross before retiring due to a vicious hit ... scored his 2nd-career goal to close out the 1st quarter and give Navy the lead for good 
• Struggled for the first time this season, winning just 9 of the 24 draws (37.5) against Villanova ... faced 5th-year Justin Coppola (14-22), who came into the game ranked 12th nationally in winning percentage, and Ryan Cunningham (1-2) ... Hayashi became only the 3rd freshman in program history to reach the 100-win milestone, joining Brady Dove (163 in 2014) and Nick Barry (134 in 2019)
• Garnered Patriot League Rookie of the Week for a third time this season with his 13 for 23 (56.5) performance against #8 Johns Hopkins ... won the overtime faceoff that led to the Mids’ game-winner by Max Hewitt ... grabbed a team-high 7 ground balls ... scored his first-collegiate goal, winning the draw and scoring 7 seconds into the second half
• Faced his toughest battle to date against Lehigh where he won 13 of the 25 draws (52.0) while grabbing 5 ground balls
• Named to the USILA Div. I National Team of the Week, while also garnering Patriot League Faceoff Specialist AND Rookie of the Week honors following his performance against Boston U. in the league opener ... won a then career-high 19 of the 27 draws (70.4) he took, while also grabbing a then personal-best 10 ground balls ... it was the first time a Navy player had turned in double-digit ground balls since Jacob Jarosz grabbed 10 against Jacksonville on Feb. 28, 2021.
• He is only the 2nd Navy player to be named the league’s rookie of the week and earn one of the other player-of-the-week awards (joined the league in 2004) ... Ryan Kern was named the rookie of the week and the league’s goalkeeper of the week on April 17, 2017, following the Mids’ 10-6 win over eighth-ranked Army in which Kern made 17 saves, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
• Won 11 of the 19 draws (57.9) he took against #12 Penn State ... dominated the opening half, winning 7 of the 9 faceoffs against Colby Baldwin ... grabbed 7 ground balls, caused a turnover and dealt out his first-career assist
• Held his own against veteran Towson faceoff specialist Matt Constantinides, winning 12 of the 26 draws (46.2) and grabbed 5 ground balls ... Constantinides moved into 5th on the Tigers’ all-time wins leader board against the Mids
• Earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors following his 16 for 23 (69.6) faceoff performance against Hofstra
• Named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week following Navy’s win over Mount St. Mary’s in the opener where he won 14 of the 21 draws (66.7) he took
• He is the sixth different Navy player and the Mids’ first freshman to earn the weekly faceoff honor since it was established in 2016 ... only the seventh different freshman among all conference schools to win the award and just the second (Conor Gaffney, Lehigh / 2017) to earn the award following his first-collegiate appearance ... only the second Navy player to earn any of the Patriot League weekly awards following the player’s first-collegiate game (Sam Jones 2011 / Rookie of the Week).

• Led McDonogh to back-to-back (2022, ‘23) MIAA Championships in lacrosse
• Recipient of the 2023 Lyle Memorial Trophy and the W. Taylor Cook Award at McDonogh School
