2023 Men's Lacrosse Roster
Biography
2022 // Junior Year
• Member of an exceptionally young defense that returned just 1 starter (All- Patriot League defenseman Jackson Bonitz) off last year’s squad - Navy has first-year starters at goalkeeper (Pat Ryan), 2 at close defense (Kyle Fairbanks, Nick LiCalzi), long-stick midfielder (Zach Snider) and short-stick defensive midfielder (Ryan Chase, Henry Rentz, Augie Fratt)
• Appeared in all 15 contests where he grabbed 33 ground balls, caused 14 turnovers, scored 2 goals and added an assist
• His 14 caused turnovers were the second most on the team behind Jackson Bonitz (18) and tied for 20th on Navy’s single-season caused turnovers list
• Part of a defensive unit that finished the year ranked #12 nationally and #2 in the Patriot League, holding opponents to 10.13 goals per game ... the Mids held 6 of their 15 opponents to single digits in the spring, including 2 of the last 4 (5 Lafayette, 6 Bucknell)
• Part of a defensive effort that held three-consecutive opponents to 6 or fewer goals (5 by Mercer, 6 by Hofstra, 6 by Manhattan) ... it’s the first time Navy has achieved that mark since holding six-straight foes to 5 or fewer goals in 2008
• Navy’s defense held Bucknell to more than 8 goals under its average in a 13-6 win ... Bucknell came into the game ranked #3 nationally averaging 14.62 goals per game
• The 6 goals were the fewest by the Bison since dropping an 18-6 decision to Lehigh last spring
• Navy held the Bucknell starting attack (each of which came into the game with 30+ goals and 50+ points) to 1 of 18 shooting and a combined 4 points (1G, 3A)
• The Bison here held to just 1 goal over the final 24:32 of the contest, while the Mids went on a 8-1 run to close out the victory
• Joined Navy’s single-season caused turnovers list with a takeaway against the Bison
• Part of a defensive unit that held #6 Army to its second-fewest goals this season in a 12-11 overtime victory (10 vs. Rutgers, 10 vs. Lehigh)
• Held Army scoreless for 8+ minutes on 3 occasions, including 16:07 (2nd/3rd qtrs) that allowed Navy to pull even at 6-6 in the 3rd quarter and 8:41 (3rd/4th qtrs) that allowed Navy to take its first lead in the game (10-8) since the opening goal of the game (14:02, 1Qtr).
• Held Army without a goal over the final 5:16 of regulation, as well as the 58 seconds that elapsed in the extra frame.
• Turned in 3 ground balls and a caused turnover at Army
• Member of Navy’s defensive unit that held Lafayette to its lowest goal output (5) since 2020 when Loyola held the Leopards to 4 ... the Mids held Lafayette scoreless for the first 20:42 of the game and without a goal for another 19:38 stretch ... during both stretches, Navy put together 4-0 scoring runs
• Dealt out his first-collegiate assist on a Nick Cole goal at Lafayette ... also forced a turnover and grabbed a pair of ground balls
• Recorded a pair of caused turnovers and grabbed 2 ground balls at Boston U. (4.2)
• The Mids held Holy Cross scoreless for 8:12 in the second quarter while Navy went on a 4-0 run and built a lead (7-2) it would not relinquish ... also held the Crusaders scoreless for an 11-minute stretch (12:40-1:37) in the final frame
• Played one of his best games in a Navy uniform against Holy Cross, where he grabbed 3 ground balls and scored the first-two goals of his career ... scored both in transition and were unassisted ... he is the first long-stick midfielder to score a pair of goals in a single game since 2021 when Jeff Durden scored 2, including the game-winner over Loyola
• Navy’s defense held #18 Johns Hopkins scoreless over the final 6:05 to post an 11-10 come-from-behind win
• Turned in a takeaway and picked up a pair of ground balls in the come-from-behind win over Colgate

• Recorded career highs in caused turnovers (4) and ground balls (5) in the win at Hofstra
• Navy held Mercer without a goal for the first 30:59, allowing Navy to hold a 7-0 halftime advantage ... also held the Bears scoreless for the final 13:38 in the contest
• Held Mercer to a season-low 5 goals, marking the fifth time under the direction of Joe Amplo that Navy has held an opponent to 5 or fewer goals
• Navy’s defense held Mercer to just 24 shots ... it’s the fewest shots by a Navy opponent since Furman mustered just 16 shots on Feb. 15, 2020
• Among the 11 players to help Navy post 17 takeaways against Mercer ... the 17 caused turnovers fell just one shy of the school record (18) set against VMI in 2011

• Navy’s defense held #10 Army to a single goal in the opening half and just one goal over the final 17-plus minutes of the contest en route to a 9-4 victory in the Star Game
