Potts was hired as Navy’s volunteer assistant coach for the men’s soccer program in July of 2019.
Potts helped the Midshipmen to a record of 4-2-1 overall during his second season with the program. He also helped the program finish second in the Patriot League South Division following a 3-1-1 Patriot League record.
During the 2020-21 season, Potts helped produce seven All-Patriot League award winners and four United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region selection. He also assisted in coaching the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in Matt Nocita and Patriot League Rookie of the Year, David Jackson.
During his first season at Navy, Potts assisted Navy to a record of 12-4-1 overall and a 5-3-1 record in league matches as the Midshipmen finished third in the Patriot League standings.
Potts helped Navy place seven individuals on All-Patriot League teams and five on the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region teams. Potts also assisted in coaching the goalkeepers and Ian Bramblett was a second team honoree in the league and was placed on the third team in the region. Bramblett finished fourth in the nation with a 0.57 goals-against average and fifth with 10 shutouts.
Before Navy, Potts began his collegiate coaching career at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. As the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach, he helped the Dragons to a 12-9 record and three shutouts. Howard went on to win the Region 20 Tournament and made it to the NJCAA National Tournament.
Along with coaching at Howard Community College, Potts coaches with the Born to Fly soccer program, Maryland State Olympic Development Program, Next Level Soccer Club and Baltimore Armour Development Academy. He started coaching in youth soccer in the winter of 2017 with Born to Fly.
Potts currently holds a US Soccer National D Coaching License, also completed US Soccer 7v7 and 11v11 Grassroot courses.
Potts started his collegiate playing career at UMBC playing the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Retrievers. He also played in the spring of 2018 with Georgia Southern.
Potts completed his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at Towson University in spring 2020.
