2022-23 // Freshman Year
• As a freshman, Tang led the team in the wins column with a 24-4 record and went on to garner Second-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference honors ... saw the bulk of his time at #2 where he produced a 22-4 mark
• His 24 wins are tied as the 14th-most single-season wins in program history and just 4 off the record set by Jeff Sawin (28-4) in 2006-07
• It’s the most by a Navy player since the 2012-13 campaign when John Richey finished 24-9 and teammates Mitch Bottini and Bill Kacergis boasted 27-6 records
• It’s also the most by a Navy freshman since Bottini and Kacergis in 2012-13. Just 5 players in program history have recorded more than 24 wins in their rookie season - 27, Mitch Bottini (2012-13) / 27, Bill Kacergis (2012-13) / 26, Hunter Boucard (2009-10) / 26, John Richey (2009-10) / 25, Nils Mattsson (2006-07)
• Additionally, Tang’s 85.7 (24-4) winning percentage goes down in the record books as the second best behind Jeff Sawin’s 87.5 (28-4) winning percentage in 2006-07
• Opened the year by winning 10 of his first 11 matches, including an 11-9, 11-5, 11-8 victory over Denison’s Tarun Mammen in his first-collegiate match
• Won a trio of key five-game matches over the course of the season, including victories over Bates’ Dennis Welte (11-4, 8-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7), Hobart’s Joey Raskin Lantos (11-8, 11-7, 7-11, 8-11, 11-4) and Western’s Daniel Deverill (11-7, 5-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5)
• Recorded a 2-1 mark at the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championship, defeating Franklin & Marshall’s Sharan Punjabai in 4 games and MIT’s Philip Hyun Su Price in 4 games
• Posted a 2-0 mark at the CSA Divisional Team Championship, capturing wins over Western’s Daniel Deverill in 5 games and MIT’s Philip Hyun Su Price in a sweep
• Closed out the season by pairing up with classmate Michael Tierney Jr. to represent Navy at the U.S. Intercollegiate Doubles Championship where the duo put together a 2-2 record
• In his rookie campaign, he faced Matt Wang in the annual Barb Tournament, falling to the Navy senior 3-0
• Along with teammates Matt Kang, Alexander Orr, Lucas Spiro, Avinash Uppuluri and Matt Wang, Tang was named to the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference All-Academic Team

• 2024 graduate of the Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, Pa.
• Three-sport athlete who lettered in squash (4), while also competing in track & field and cross country
• Four-time First-Team Inter-Academic Athletic League selection, who also played the #1 position on the ladder all 4 years
• Led The Episcopal Academy to the Inter-Ac Championship his senior year
• Served as the squash team captain his senior year
• Earned Cum Laude Society recognition his senior year for ranking among the top 20 percent of his class academically

• Son of Ming Tang and Yaozhong Zhang
• Majoring in Nuclear Engineering, he owns a 4.00 grade-point average
• Named to the Superintendent’s (S2025), Commandant’s (S2025) and Dean’s (F2024) Lists
• Ranked #1 in the Class of 2028 (1,150) in Academic Order of Merit and #61 in Overall Order of Merit
• An exceptionally bright student who validated out of 11 classes upon his arrival to the Academy - 100-Level Chinese I and II, U.S. Government and Constitutional Development, Basic Spanish I and II, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Calculus I and II, Calculus II with Vector Fields and General Physics I
