Biography
Academic Honors –– Was named the 2019 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the sport ... received academic honors from the USNA in five semesters (four times on Superintendent’s List) ... has posted a 4.00 GPA in two terms ... was named an ITA National Scholar-Athlete in 2018 and ‘19 ... was named to the 2018, ‘19 and ‘20 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Athletic Honors –– Became the first men’s tennis player in Patriot League history since the awards were first presented in 2002 to be selected as both the player and rookie of the year in the league when he won each award in 2018 ... also was tabbed as the MVP of the 2018 league tournament and earned first-team all-league laurels ... paired with Aries Wong to be selected as the 2018 league doubles team of the year ... was again selected as the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2019 ... also repeated his first-team all-league accolade and teamed with Jack Dabek to be selected as the league’s doubles team of the year.
2019-20 –– Posted a singles record of 12-8 ... this overall mark included a 6-3 record during the spring ... played at the No. 1 flight in each of those matches ... posted a 6-1-2 record in his last nine singles matches of the spring ... advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA Masters in the fall ... reached the round of 32 in singles at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship ... finished the year with a 15-4 record in doubles ... tallied a 7-2 record in the fall and an 8-2 record in the spring ... he and Derrick Thompson produced an 8-1 record as a team in the spring and a 15-3 record overall for the year ... the Thompson-Ton team won four matches to reach the semifinal round of the ITA Atlantic Region Championship ... the duo lost a three-set decision in the semifinal.
2018-19 –– Totaled a 43-19 record for the year ... this included a 22-12 record in singles and a 21-7 record in doubles ... compiled a 31-11 record during the spring season, all of which was spent at the No. 1 singles (15-7) and No. 1 doubles (16-4) flights ... posted a 10-2 record against league foes ... was 3-2 in league singles matches and 7-0 in league doubles matches ... competed at the Oracle ITA Masters in the fall ... recorded a three-set win over No. 74 Majed Kilani from Tulsa during the event ... five of his 12 singles losses on the year came in three-set decisions ... rallied after losing the first set and trailed, 5-4 and a break of serve, in the third set to win, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-0) to account for the final point of Navy’s 4-3 league tournament final victory against Army ... was 5-1-4 in his last 10 singles matches ... teamed with Jack Dabek for a 15-3 overall record and a 13-2 dual match record as a doubles team ... the pair also was 7-0 against league foes.
2017-18 –– Posted an overall record of 52-21 on the season ... that featured a 28-12 record in singles and a 24-9 record in doubles ... was a combined 36-12 during the spring ... this included marks of 18-8 in singles –– all at the No. 1 flight –– and 9-0 when facing league opponents ... rallied after losing the first set of his Star Match to force a third set, then trailed 5-2 in the frame ... took a 6-5 lead and was serving, but fell behind 15-40 ... scored the next three points to win the game, set and match and give the Mids a 4-3 win ... posted an 18-4 doubles record during the spring season, all of which were played alongside Aries Wong ... also tallied marks of 16-4 at No. 1 doubles and 7-1 against league foes.
High School –– Graduated from Bellarmine College Prep ... earned four letters in tennis at the school ... served as the captain of the squad as a senior and was tabbed as the team MVP in both 2016 and ‘17 ... won several USTA events: 2014 National Clay Court Tournament, 2015 National Winter Tournament, 2016 National Hard Court Tournament ... was selected as the 2017 USTA Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award recipient ... also earned All-America accolades.
Personal –– Quantitative economics major ... one sister is a 2013 graduate of Navy who played on the school’s tennis team, while another sister played college tennis at Manhattan.
