Blaise Stanicic is in her fifth season with the Navy Water Polo program as she joined in a volunteer capacity during the 2013 campaign. A standout student-athlete at the University of Maryland, Stanicic received a pair of All-American honors in 2008 and 2009 by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. Those honors made her the first all-American in the history of the Maryland water polo program. Stanicic totaled 139 goals and 116 assists during her four-year career as a Terrapin.
Upon graduating, Stanicic played professionally overseas for the Croatian club, WPC Mladost (Zagreb) and played a leading role in her team winning the 2010 National Championship. She also competed with the Croatian National Team and at the 2010 European Championship was the starter with heaviest minutes on the team. Once she returned to the United States, Stanicic coached Naval Academy's club water polo team and served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at George Washington University during the 2011-12 season.
Stanicic spent six semesters on Maryland's Dean's List and earned a bachelor's degree in English in 2009. During her stint at the George Washington University she received a master's degree in Legislative Affairs. She is the daughter of Mladen and Miriam Stanicic. Mladen is the head coach of the Navy Water Polo team, while Miriam serves as the Director of Community Relations for the U.S. Naval Academy.
